As an Actuarial Analyst at UnitedHealth Group, you'll be charged with analyzing some of the world's most complex and abundant stores of data and delivering bold, business-savvy solutions. In addition to inspiring everyday challenge, you'll find an accelerated actuarial development path to support you in your continuing post-graduate education and certification.

The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for pricing, experience analysis, and actuarial modeling of the company's individual insurance products. This includes short-term medical insurance and the team's ancillary insurance products (Dental, Vision, Accident, etc.)

You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform quantitative analysis of actuarial, financial, utilization and costs data to help leaders make decisions
  • Develop pricing methodologies and assumptions
  • Designing and refining pricing tools
  • Develop new rates and prepare cost estimates
  • Prepare individual rate filings, including short-term medical and ancillary products
  • Assist in the development of financial forecasts and projections
  • Provide input on market strategy, including but not limited to competitive analyses, ad hoc actuarial studies, and other market specific projects

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams
  • 2+ years of Actuarial experience
  • Advanced or higher proficiency in MS Excel


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Health rate filing and/or pricing expertise
  • Experience discussing actuarial concepts to non-actuarial audiences
  • Experience working in finance or the health care industry
  • At least a basic level of proficiency with VBA, MS Access, SQL (Structured Query Language), and/or SAS (Statistical Analysis System)

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000.
