The Director of Sales (IESNP) is responsible for managing a direct to consumer sales organization within an assigned region for the UnitedHealth Care Assisted Living Plan Institutional Equivalent Special Needs Plans (IESNP). The Director of Sales will be responsible for managing a team of sales representatives across their region.

The Director of Sales is accountable for generating new membership ("gross adds") consistent with the budget and the revenue assumptions by month ("member months").

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day to day activity of a sales team, with an expected number of direct reports not to exceed eight full time employees
  • Develop and executes an annual sales plan, with a significant focus on Annual Election Period (AEP), monitors results based on monthly performance
  • Works directly with regional chain partners to identify growth opportunity and process
  • Oversee compliance within the Medicare Marketing Guidelines

Job Duties:
  • Conduct weekly 1/1 with direct reports to facilitate and monitor performance
  • Provide reporting to VP of IE Sales and action plan for subsequent month
  • Conduct face to face contact with client personnel to address concerns and identify opportunity
  • Develop AEP growth strategies to implement for both new and existing clients across his/her region
  • Provide compliance oversight and ensure all assigned sales personnel abide by the Medicare Marketing Guidelines
  • Manage the implementation and adherence with the CCM direct to consumer sales model
  • Establish themselves as the main point of contact for all growth conversations across his/her region
  • Utilize the MAP process to establish, discuss and monitor direct report's performance, create development plans, and implement corrective action measures as appropriate and described in Optum performance management guidelines
  • Recruit, hire and assist with the training of sales personnel
  • Provide day to day direction to sales staff
  • Manage CRM tool (bConnected) in accordance with departmental policies and metrics
  • Serve as subject matter expert for both product and region

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of managing a sales team
  • Managing a salesforce utilizing a standard model, including the use of a CRM (salesforce.com, or a similar product) to drive decisions
  • Ability to work a variety of hours, early morning, evenings and weekends, as required by various sales activities
  • Appropriate state licensure or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date
  • Intermediate user level in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Lead management software knowledge and preview experience

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $70,000 to $140,000. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance.
