Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret financial data and facts related to payer and provider financial performance and competitive landscape.
  • Analyze and report on financials and partner with senior leaders to collaboratively manage budgets.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with healthcare economics team as primary point of contact to collaborate with on various financial management initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for operational and process improvements and implement solutions using complex analysis and innovative tools.
  • Model data based on findings to meet specific requirements.
  • Perform various ad hoc analysis and reporting as necessary.
  • Assist with identifying, analyzing and driving medical cost savings.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis, calculate and summarize cost impact.
  • Manage independent financial projects.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Financial analysis or accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment and navigate multiple concurrent deadlines
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and analytical tools to outgoing reports
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location.
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of healthcare claims processes and procedures
  • Ability to quickly learn and use computer software and tools effectively
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, MS Access and relational database concepts
