Connectomics Research Associate

Conducts research experiments in accordance
with laboratory and safety protocols. Collects field and/or laboratory
measurements and data. Computes results for a variety of research procedures,
tests and techniques. Maintains accurate records of procedures used to
conduct experiments. Uses laboratory/computer equipment to conduct analyses of
experiment data. Provides routine interpretations of analyses. Maintains and
calibrates laboratory equipment. Performs or arranges for basic repairs. May
alter equipment to meet experiment requirements. Makes recommendations for
equipment acquisitions. Prepares chemical solutions for experimental use.
Handles and disposes of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance
with safety protocols. Performs surgeries, data collection, histological
preparation and tissue dissection for multiple complex, federally funded
projects and experiments.Qualifications
Required:* Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of standard organic, physical and analytical chemical methods. * Technical expertise and working knowledge of neuroanatomy, biochemistry and physiology. * Highly specialized technical histological skills and functional knowledge * Knowledge of neurosurgery and stereotactic ICV implantation. * Basic functional understanding of the research concerns related to the effects of perinatal ethanol exposure on certain neuroendoctrine, neuroimmune, behavioral and neurochemical indices of central nervous system development and function. * Effective organizational skills in wet laboratory administration. * Previous experience in connectomics
