Staff Research Associate

Under the direction of the Lab Manager and
the Principal Investigator, the Staff Research Associate will assist with
multiple laboratory projects involving the immunology of HIV and gut
microbiome. Duties include the processing of various clinical specimens and
their disposition into a large tissue bank. Additional duties include
processing of cells and tissues for DNA/RNA extraction and pcr analysis,
preparation of samples for next generation sequencing, preparation of samples
for flow cytometry, performing ELISAs, Bioplex assays and the maintenance
of cells and cell lines in culture. In this role, you will also assist in
the management of daily operations of the laboratory including assisting other
investigators with projects and the maintenance of required documentation.
Responsible for monitoring laboratory equipment compliance and freezer log.
Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment. Responsible for maintaining
appropriate inventory of lab supplies maintaining a database of laboratory
vendors and orders. You will have an opportunity to learn new laboratory
procedures and techniques.Qualifications
Required:* Ability to keep detailed, organized laboratory notebook* Skills in using PC software such as: Word for Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, LDMS.* Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy; independently organize and prioritize work and track progress of multiple projects.* Skill in performing within a framework of conflicting demands, competing time frames and frequent interruptions and/or distractions and to modify work schedule to meet changing demands.* Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology and symbols.* Skill in sterile technique for tissue and cell culture, cell freezing and storage.* Skill in isolation of cells from blood and various tissues.* Ability to perform ELISA and multiplex Luminex assays.* Ability to operate and keep in good working order all laboratory equipment* Mathematical skills to prepare calculations.
