Senior Manager, Global Medical Information (Alzheimer's Disease)

Job Description

Biogen is hiring Pioneering and Agile Medical Affairs professionals to support the launch of our new biologic Alzheimer’s treatment. The SeniorManager of Global Medical Information leads content planning with the medical team to generate robust scientific standard and custom medical information content used by the Medical Information (MI) and MSL teams to engage healthcare professionals. They will also reviewcontent written by MI Managers.

Additional responsibilities for the Senior Manager willinclude (1) leading Medical Information workstreams; (2) training the Medical Information contact center, external business partners, and other Biogen team members on therapeutic area-specific Medical Information content and processes, (2) continuous monitoring of trends to gather and communicate actionable insights to the stakeholders, (3) continuous improvement of Medical Information processes and deliverables, (4) ensure audit readiness at all times to GxP standards and (5) subject matter expert support for digital initiatives and other medical projects.

The Senior Manager collaborates with the Alzheimer’s medical team to generate strategic Medical Information content plans, including scripted responses, Q&As, handling, and administration guidelines, stability guidelines, standard response letters, etc.
  • Ensures that escalated unsolicited MI requests received directly from HCPs or via MSLs or commercial teams are addressed timely and accurately.
  • Ensures the appropriate and timely review and approval of any generated Medical Information content on Biogen products follow relevant SOPs and local laws/codes of practice.
  • Provides support to stakeholders (including Market Access) about the handling of complex medical information inquiries escalated by the contact center and field-based personnel.
  • Subject matter expert support as needed for medical communication initiatives i.e., Medical Academy Chatbot, FAQs.
  • Provides ongoing training to contact center agents and other relevant individuals on new or updated Medical Information content.
  • Regularly monitors the quality and accuracy of the Medical Information responses on assigned products provided by the contact center and identifies necessary corrective actions or training
  • required to ensure compliance with regional and local regulations as well as internally relevant SOPs.
  • Establish and continuously monitor inquiry trends and metrics and proactively identifies unmet content needs and communicates actionable metrics to stakeholders.
  • Assists with monitoring the appropriate capture of any related adverse event or product complaint information by the contact center agents or other intake channels within Medical Information.
  • Provides strategic direction and clinical insights to medical information reporting and analytics.
  • Serves on a Global Medical Information Regional Team supporting affiliates in assigned countries.
  • Represents Medical Information at Product Brand team meetings and Monthly Medical meetings.
  • Support and deliver within a continuous improvement culture.
  • At all times, ensure and support audit readiness for Medical information.


  • A Bachelors degree is required; an Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, Ph.D., DNP) is preferred.
  • 3+ years (Sr. Manager level) of medical information or related medical affairs experience is required.
  • Experience creating medical affairs content is required.
  • Experience in a global medical affairs role is preferred.
  • Advanced clinical and scientific training is required. Direct scientific/clinical experience in the therapeutic area desirable.
  • Record of delivering on commitments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Prior industry experience in a post-marketing setting (desirable).
  • Ability to manage through a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Understanding of and adherence to regulatory policies governing scientific interactions with physicians.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple activities at the same time.

Biogen’s US Alzheimer’s Franchise is looking to recruit proven and ambitious sales achievers with at least five years of experience in pharma, specialty, hospital, med device/capital equipment, and/or biotech sales.
In this field-based, specialty sales representative position you will be called upon to sell our products with key stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s Disease community: including Neurologists and allied health professionals.
