Associate Director, Strategic Pricing & Contracting

About This Role

The Associate Director of Strategic Pricing & Contracting will be responsible for developing the contracting and pricing strategy for Biogen’s SMA and MS portfolios, and will also support US market access preparedness for Biogen’s pipeline products. He/she will report to the Director, Strategic Pricing & Contracting within the US Market Access & Reimbursement team. This individual will lead development of pricing and contracting strategy for these respective therapeutic areas across all payer channels (i.e., Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial). The individual will also develop innovative approaches, such as portfolio, risk-based, and value- & outcomes-based contracting, to achieve patient access. This role will provide input into clinical development programs to support patient access and the US business in preparation for future successful launches. He/She will be required to work cross-functionally to ensure organizational alignment. This includes collaboration with the Payer Insights team to undertake market research, field colleagues to develop business cases for regional and national payer accounts, Finance to align on core financial modeling assumptions, and Brand teams to align on and pull-through contracting objectives to support the respective brand business goals.

What You’ll Do

· Develop stakeholder contracting strategies, including but not limited to payers and providers, to facilitate patient access for Biogen’s SMA and MS products to support business objectives

· Support strategy development with models to evaluate the impact of potential pricing & contracting approaches on key stakeholders across all channels

· Support development of pricing strategies for Biogen’s pipeline portfolio and communicate of critical success factors to stakeholders

· Represent US market access needs in pipeline development discussions with Global teams and support US payer pre-approval engagementsand landscape preparations

· Independently manage projects from start to finish

· Work cross-functionally within the US Organization to align on US market access approach across products.

· Partner with Global Value & Access as well as Public Policy & Gov Affairs ( PPGA) toalign on assumptions and strategy development.

· Serve as a subject matter expert on contracting approaches across MS, SMA, and pipeline products

· Present recommendations to senior leadership for approval

Qualifications

Required Skills

· Ability to develop and communicate brand-specific pricing/contracting strategy informed by primary and secondary research and aligned with overall business and organizational objectives

·Knowledge of US government pricing dynamics (Medicaid, 340B, Medicare Parts B & D)

· Understanding of Buy & Bill and discounting dynamics

· Experience with conducting primary payer and provider market research

· Experience with online survey tools and syndicated data sources

· Excellent analytic, strategic, and critical thinking skills

· Highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication sklils

· Ability to develop and deliver clear, compelling presentations on complex pricing topics to senior leadership

· Ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional and cross-team ties to influence colleagues

· 5+ years prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a consulting firm with roles focused on contracting, pricing, or market access

Education: BA/BS Required; Masters or higher Preferred
