Our location in Abbott Park, IL, currently has an opportunity for a Senior Analyst, B enefits. The Workday Benefits Technology/Functional Analyst will be a member of the Abbott HRTS group supporting the global Benefits team. This position will serve as a key subject matter expert supporting all core Benefits functionality in Workday, as well as supporting all benefits integrations to 3rd party vendors. This position will also be responsible for providing input on project planning, administrating, developing, and documenting business requirements, and delivering and testing implementation solutions. This position will support the design and implementation of Business processes, Reports, Integrations with business systems and other applications.

  • Build configuration, Test, and Deploy solutions in Workday system to support Global Benefits processes and upgrades.
  • Understand customer's requirements and assist/participate with the project team on the most appropriate approach and desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate assigned deliverable schedules to ensure customer's timelines are met. Provide guidance to customers or service partners.
  • Support the continued development, optimization, and simplification of Workday Benefits processes, reports, and integrations, focusing on delivering a positive experience to the end-user.
  • Work directly with business clients and/or application vendors to confirm technical/business requirements, consider design alternatives, facilitate discussions, and ultimately drive requirements sign-off. Evaluate, communicate, and coordinate the technical impacts of application configuration decisions.
  • Create detailed system Configuration design documentation, Functional design documentation, integration specifications, field mapping, and system process designs.
  • Work independently to configure, test, and deploy Benefits Business processes, reports, condition rules, eligibility rules, calculated fields, or integrations required to meet business requirements.
  • Support all benefits processes, integrations, and reports across multiple geographies via system monitoring and internal case management system.
  • Manage work activities and ticket volumes to meet required SLA's and service delivery measures.
  • Understand and document the HR business requirements and translate requirements into system designs.
  • Create, maintain, and execute UAT scripts including regression testing the new functionality before deployment.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple requests.
  • Actively participate in the Workday Community, training, and regional user groups to ensure awareness of current trends and innovation.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
  • Applies and executes standard information systems theories, concepts, and techniques and assists in the development of standards and procedures.
  • Investigates alternatives, which use existing applications and make recommendations.
  • Conducts tests; develops preliminary findings for review by management. Conducts training.
  • Manages projects according to milestones and within budget constraints. Identifies and implements process improvements.


  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 4-7 years of HR experience.
  • 3+ years of Workday Benefits, hands on experience required.

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with other Workday HCM modules including Compensation, Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance, and Talent.
  • Experience with reports and integrations from Workday to internal and external systems using Workday technologies including calculated fields, custom reports, EIBs, core connectors, Document Transformation, XSLT, Workday Studio, Web Services etc.
  • Workday certification/training preferred.
  • Experience in applications and databases such as Active Directory, SAP, Oracle, etc.
