Sr. HVAC / Maintenance Tech

Job Description

The Sr. HVAC /Maintenance Tech position is available at our Animal Health facility in Elkhorn, Nebraska, located on the West end of Omaha. The Elkhorn facility is expanding operations to manufacture animal vaccines and biologics.

The HVAC Maintenance Technician (7:00AM-3:30PM) will concentrate on troubleshooting, installation, maintenance and repair of utility systems, including clean steam generators, natural gas boilers, chillers, air handler units (AHUs), refrigeration systems, air compressors to ensure compliant, reliable and cost-efficient operation, in addition to troubleshooting, removal, and repairs of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment and machinery, as well as repair and installation of building and facility fixtures.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with completion of team workload as scheduled

  • Ensure all information is entered into SAP to track utilization and feedback is given on all work completed during shift

  • Coordinate and prioritize assigned daily workload

  • Ensure major issues are recorded and conveyed to Maintenance

    Lead /Management


  • Ensure issues and temporary repairs are escalated to Maintenance

    Lead /Management to ensure plans to fully resolved are in process


  • Support team with positive motivation and team engagement

  • Suggest and work on continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero losses due to equipment failures and technical issue

  • Participate in RCA on equipment and process failures to provide insight to failure and suggest corrective actions


  • Give feedback to Maintenance Leads on scheduled work to ensure work is completed

  • Practice safety and promote team safety awareness

  • Communicate effectively on shift and to the Maintenance team to ensure any support requests are filled

  • Able to be exposed to extreme temperatures, outside weather in all conditions, high noise environments, work areas near moving mechanical parts and any chemicals used in production process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required ; Associates degree in a Technical discipline, preferably in Industrial Maintenance Technology preferred



Qualifications:


  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or HVAC Certification


  • 3 or more years of experience in commercial, and industrial HVAC

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment (e.g., heating, cooling, ventilation, electrical, gas, building utility, manufacturing equipment, etc.)


  • 1-3 years mechanical experience as an Electro/Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing environment

  • Possess a fundamental comprehension of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings to solve problems in a timely manner at the component level on all manufacturing equipment

  • Ability to troubleshoot AC / DC Electrical components (up to 480VAC 3 Phase) including motor starters, switches and sensors found on manufacturing equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters and amp probes.

  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and test instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve problems and make decisions while working in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including the ability to comprehend equipment instruction/service manuals and drawings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with a variety of customers (Production, Vendors, and Management)
  • Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance functions, audit PMs, and task lists, giving feedback on improvement ideas and ensuring all parts list are accurate

  • Expertise and proficiency with basic Microsoft Office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use SAP maintenance software to input data, research parts and analyze repair history detail.


  • PLC knowledge is a plus


  • Journeyman HVAC certification preferred
