Job Description

TheAssociate Director, Research Informatics Systems Engineeringwill be responsible for executing an ambitiousdatastrategyto supportBMS’sInformatics andPredictiveScience’sdata needsinthe Research and Early Development space.

Thesuccessful candidate willbridge strategy,scientific,technology and design teams to shape and build the future of BMS’ Research Data Commons.

The role willprovide leadership guidance and accountability for the direction of our data commons applications. This rolewill fit someone thatthinksstrategically about where the latest hardware, software and cloud technologies fitwithinpharmaceuticalresearch datacontexts.

Job Functions

· Manage and maintain the delivery cycle ofspecificdata commons deliverablesbyhelping tosetthestrategic direction, drive planning and executioncycles, andmanagingpriorities inorder to meet shared objectives

· Communicate technical and product decisions to the right people, resolve blocking issues, and keep ourdata commonsdevelopment machine running

· Manage bespoke vendor relationships for software developmentservices

· Partner with the internalscientificdata engineering teams to streamline the flow of data intothe data commonsplatform

· Partner with the internalITCloud and Cybersecurityengineering teamstohelp balance compliance and data use needswith a robust system architecture

· Enable and support R&ED scientistsaccessing datain thedata commonsenvironment

· Develop strong relationships with Computational Research leads and manage ongoing roadmap updates to leadershipincluding the corresponding IT Business Partners

· Take responsibility for training, education, and awareness ofdata commonscapabilitiesand work actively with Research leads to drive adoption acrossInformatics & Predictive Sciences teams

Job Requirements

· 8+ years of experience in the data technology space: implementing digital data platforms/solutions, developing APIs/systems integrations, and/ or developing analytical solutions.

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent professional experience

· Extremely strong understanding of good software design principles

· Goodunderstandingofagiledevelopment practices and comfort acting as a product owner

· Working knowledge ofoneor more programming languages

· Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC.

· Strong verbal and written communications skills

· Experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering

· Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology experience a plus
