Job Description:

GPS Learning Strategy & Operations (LSO) addresses learning and knowledge requirements and fosters a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing for BMS Global Product Development and Supply (GPS), which encompasses manufacturing operations, quality, supply chain, product development, engineering and facilities, and strategy and business excellence organizations. The Head of GPS Learning Strategy & Operations is responsible for the strategy, governance, implementation, sustainability and continuous improvement and design of learning and development across GPS. The incumbent will collaborate with other key leaders across the enterprise to ensure the GPS learning strategy aligns with GPS business strategy, builds on BMS enterprise-wide learning strategy and talent initiatives, reflects compliance requirements, elevates organizational performance and advances the culture plan. This is an opportunity to define and build the future of learning for GPS. The role reports into GPS Strategy & Business Excellence (SBE) which is the engine that propels GPS performance and also includes GPS Strategy, Business Development, Operational Excellence and Program Management teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define learning needs in partnership with GPS leadership to enable the GPS workforce with the knowledge and capabilities to achieve business priorities
  • Create the strategy, direction and metrics for learning for GPS
  • Represent GPS at the BMS enterprise-level Learning Council and ensure strategic alignment with company-wide learning strategy and workforce plan
  • Design and deliver learning programs, systems and technology focused on onboarding, capability building, knowledge sharing, and creating a sustainable GPS learning ecosystem.
  • Foster and maintain unified approach to compliance-related training with Global Quality partners
  • Lead the cross-functional GPS Learning Council and provide strategic leadership, governance and oversight to the matrixed GPS learning network
  • Work with GPS learning leaders globally to inform and communicate learning strategy, maintain strategic alignment, and deliver on learning commitments
  • Own GPS LSO organizational design, operating model, resource allocation and alignment with strategic priorities
  • Hire, manage and develop GPS LSO team; monitoring team engagement, process effectiveness and analytics to advise on areas for improvement
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the learning vendor resource model and identification and oversight of GPS learning vendors (collaborating with Global Procurement organization)
  • As a member of the Strategy & Business Excellence (SBE) leadership team, partner with peers to develop and implement the SBE learning strategy which is aligned with BMS/GPS strategy
  • Leverage relationships with external subject matter experts and bring best practices/trends, to build learning programs that are differentiators; maintain deep subject matter expertise

Experience and qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree; 10-15 years of experience delivering learning in biopharmaceutical industry or another highly regulated environment required. Experience in product development and supply and/or in a GxP regulated space strongly preferred
  • Successful strategy development and implementation in a complex environment
  • Thought leadership and deep knowledge in the areas of learning operations and governance, change management, and leading practices in learning & development
  • Proven experience with modern learning methodologies and delivery processes including digital, and capability development program design and implementation
  • Proven track record of team building, talent development, effective people management and vendor oversight in a multicultural environment
  • Strategic, forward-thinking, agile, enterprise mindset
  • Customer-service mindset and skilled in consulting and influencing across a complex, diverse, global, matrix organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to understand and communicate the needs of the business; demonstrated ability to communicate to internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Well organized and capable of managing multiple, diverse stakeholders, priorities, and programs in a dynamic environment
