Summary

The Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) team focuses on delivering Facebook's vision through delivering consumer hardware devices. As a Manager of Technical Program Management, Display and Optics, you will play a key role in building and supporting teams to deliver new cutting-edge technologies to next-gen programs. You will build and support a team of Display and Optics Technical Program Managers in defining and driving cross-functional plans for new technology and product introductions - communicating progress to stakeholders and ensuring the big picture stays in focus while delving into the details of specific technical issues. In this role, you will have a major impact on future products. We look for Technical Program Managers who have a strong technical foundation and are natural motivators, cross-functional relationship builders, and champions for driving the right level of process to ensure smooth and predictable program execution in a fast-paced innovative environment. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to tackle unfamiliar situations with curiosity and tenacity, while able to inspire and influence team members at different levels of experience.

Required Skills

  • People management of a team, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reports.
  • Hire and mentor a team of Display and Optics TPMs.
  • Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team.
  • Scale the organization to support multiple fast-paced product categories.
  • Define and own metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Develop and drive best practices and technology development processes.
  • Work closely with engineering leadership and core teams, driving the investigation, definition, and delivery of next generation systems and subsystems.
  • Manage cross-functional technology programs.
  • Perform risk management and change management on projects.
  • Contribute to resource planning to ensure program and team success.
  • Up to 20% travel.


Minimum Qualification

  • BS or higher in Engineering, Materials Science or a similar field.
  • 5+ years of experience with building and managing a team of Technical Program Managers.
  • Experience working with Display and Optics consumer electronic technologies.
  • Experience in leading and partnering with international suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Experience with new product introduction (NPI) and technology transfer best practice and tools.
  • Experience with phase gate approach to technology development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, shipping and ramping consumer electronics product into high volume manufacturing.
  • Experience communicating technical information to non-experts, at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience building, coordinating, and maintaining schedules across multiple teams, and managing shared resources to lead successful technology development programs.
  • Highly skilled in motivating, influencing, and resolving conflict amongst a cross-functional team.


Preferred Qualification

  • 10+ years of experience in Technical Program Management, preferably in development of consumer products.
