Program Manager, Training and Education

The Training and Education Program Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and executing educational programs for Division field representatives, employees and customers. The Training Instructor is recognized as an expert within Abbott and has a thorough understanding of the customer, their needs and the evolving marketplace to ensure sales and clinical representatives are effective in selling to and supporting our customers with Division technology solutions.
  • Ensure the field organization is prepared to not only engage customers on the features and clinical elements of our products, but also on the economic aspects of our technologies.
  • Design of new curricula and will be instrumental in developing new and innovative ways to deliver the curriculum following best-practices in adult learning within assessed constraints.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Impacts the direction and resource allocation for program, project or services; works within division policies and industry guidelines.
  • Leads projects with notable risk and complexity; develops the strategy for project execution.
  • Communicates complex ideas, anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Drive the creation of Global content direction and define key deliverables designed to increase efficiency and improve our ability to execute consistent messages aligned with Marketing and Sales goals.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences or equivalent combination of education and work experience to include HF Nurse, HF Nurse Practitioner, VAD Coordinator, or Perfusionist or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years field training experience within a specific therapy. Successful completion of therapy or industry-specific competency exams.
  • Demonstrated strategic selling skills including customer presentations, product demonstration, and negotiation, closing and developing a sales territory.
  • Excellent computer and software skills (experience with Microsoft Office or equivalent required) in graphics, word-processing, databases, authoring programs, to develop presentation materials.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent technical aptitude.
  • Resourcefulness and willingness to develop creative solutions to complex problems within defined constraints

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25-30%, including internationally.
