Position Specific Description

NextEra Energy's Power Generation Division (PGD) is seeking a candidate for the Steam Turbine Fleet Team (STFT). Candidate shall have working knowledge regarding the operation and maintenance of a large diverse steam turbine fleet, which includes; fossil, nuclear, and solar thermal units. This would include subject matter expert (SME) knowledge (to varying degrees) of all turbine generator mechanical sub-systems, basic design, vibration, performance, preventive maintenance, alignment, repairs, outage practices, start-up, and troubleshooting. The goal is to improve the reliability of the fleet through the use of quality tools (RCA, FMEA) and initiating improvements in operations and maintenance practices.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Candidate would be expected to work in a team environment and display exceptional initiative to self-manage tasks
  • Typical work would include working with plant personnel in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues, prioritizing and planning upcoming maintenance work, onsite support for the maintenance group for specific overhaul issues, disposition of components for repair, managing outside vendor work, and directing other major initiatives
  • Provide nuclear turbine system engineering support
  • Develop proficiency in the PGD work management program, Maximo
  • Support the PGD Re-Imagine FPL initiative for increased plant automation and advanced equipment monitoring
  • Off hours support
    • Overnight travel may be required for extended onsite support that exceeds a day duration
    • After-hours support typically involves fairly frequent phone consultations however call outs for on-site support do occur
    • This position does not provide continual onsite technical direction of outage activities except for unusual situations
