Emergency Management & Business Continuity Planner

Job Function:

Develop and maintain the Emergency Management and Business Continuity program.

Emergency Management and Business Continuity Program Management:
  • Develops, reviews and maintains policies, procedures and plan to support the Emergency Management and Business Continuity programs at MD Anderson in accordance to guidelines and regulations, based on proactive risk and hazard vulnerability assessments and in accordance with federal, state, industry and regulations, based on specific departmental functions and processes.
  • Participates in all Emergency Management and Business Continuity functions to support the section, the department and the institution.
  • Prepares presentations to support the programs.

Program Support and Implementation:
  • Develops and conducts exercises based on institutional needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Manages emergency plan maintenance to meet requirements and standards for emergency planning processes and manages business continuity plan maintenance to meet requirements and standards for emergency planning processes.
  • Participates in ongoing Business Impact Analysis for key areas of the institution.

Training:
  • Develops and provides training to all institutional personnel to support the safety, emergency and continuity programs of the department and institution

Committee Support:
  • Provides support to all applicable committees such as Institutional Safety Committee, Patient Safety Committee, Joint Commission Readiness Committee, Emergency Management Strategic Advisory Committee, and Everbridge Committee.

Other:
  • Participates in other departmental programs as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education Requirements:

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Management Engineering, Education, Organizational Development, Emergency Planning, Business Continuity or related field.

Preferred Education: Master's degree in Engineering, Applied or Basic Sciences, Environmental Science, Emergency Management or related field.

Experience Requirements:

Experience Required: Two years of emergency management or business continuity experience.

Preferred Experience: Two years of emergency management or business continuity experience in a healthcare environment.
