Scientist I/Scientist II, Process Development and Oligonucleotide Portfolio Management

About This Role

This scientist will manage partner related activities, communicate and align development strategies with key stake holders and customers. He/she will support Biogen’s Oligonucleotide portfolio within the PO&T Department and contribute to the process development of new and existing clinical programs to support our end-to-end manufacturing of oligonucleotide drug candidates or drugs.

The location of this position can be held in our oligonucleotide development laboratory, adjacent to our GMP manufacturing site, in RTP, North Carolina, or as an integral member of the process development team located in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

What You'll Do
  • Mange and facilitate technical team activities. Plan, schedule and ensure execution of pre-clinical manufacturing activities
  • Work with Quality, Supply Chain and Asset management within the CMC function to maintain GMP manufacturing schedule (DS for DS and DP) of oligonucleotides clinical programs and ensure alignment of development strategies
  • Main contact point with external partners for information programs changes and timelines. Maintain good working relationship and clear communication between the Oligonucleotide Process Development Group and its partners
  • Provide technical expertise for the development and characterization of manufacturing techniques of new and existing oligonucleotide clinical programs with the purpose of scaling-up for GMP manufacturing

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual with a background in Organic chemistry or drug development experience to join our Oligonucleotide Process Development Group. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of Oligonucleotides drug candidates from early to late clinical phase. We are looking for someone who is self-driven, highly organized and passionate to play a key role in developing Biogen growing oligonucleotide pipeline and ultimately impact patients lives.


Required Skills
  • Ph.D. with 5+ years ofexperience in small molecule or oligonucleotide drug development
  • Masters degreewith 8+ years of experiencein small molecule or oligonucleotide drug development
  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in small molecule or oligonucleotide drug development
  • Knowledge of project management and fundamentals in manufacturing and the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Must have the abilities to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment and effectively communicate in written and oral forms.
  • Knowledge of GMPs, manufacturing and regulatory expectations. Overall understanding of the various aspects of CMC development.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in nucleoside chemistry, oligonucleotide manufacturing processes or oligonucleotide synthesis
