Site Name: Guayama JV Posted Date: Jun 28 2021 As an Automation Technician III you will serve as main contact for specific trade need to conduct maintenance activities. The incumbent is the primary contact for troubleshooting of equipment (Manufacturing/Packaging/Utilities). You will provide support for root cause analysis and CAPA's evaluation. You will use your Automation experience to lead complex troubleshooting scenarios. It is also responsible to lead, coordinate and participate in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, mechanical and electrical equipment repairs, equipment installation or removals and support of Reliability initiatives. You will conduct all activities and makes decisions that are in accordance with Company policies & SOP,s, Values & global regulatory guidelines (including cGMP/cGLP/cGCP), environmental guidelines, as appropriate, etc. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: Equipment Preventive Maintenance Performs preventive and predictive maintenance of production equipment, utilities equipment and control systems, following the established guidelines for the CMMS system, equipment operational procedures, site and manufacturer recommend maintenance practices. Reports opportunities captured during preventive maintenance execution. Provides recommendations for preventive maintenance task improvements. Generates maintenance work orders to report and coordinate repairs for tasks out of the scope of the preventive maintenance. Monitors the PM schedule and ensures adherence. Equipment Corrective Maintenance Follows work order business process to determine priority, scope and duration. Assess emergency and urgent work requests (diagnose, prioritize and identify technical requirements). It should also consider any mitigation for safety related work orders. Equipment Troubleshooting Demonstrates leadership and initiative during troubleshooting and/or problem solving activities. Provides mechanical, electrical, electronics, fabrication, instrumentation or automated support for troubleshooting activities. Leads troubleshooting work in order to identify equipment malfunction and perform the required repair work. If necessary, coordinates support from the other areas, such as HVAC, Utilities, Instrumentation, Automation and/or Machine Shop for the troubleshooting. Provides support for root-cause analysis of equipment related failures. Makes timely interventions to solve problems and document actions in the CMMS system. Works from verbal and written instructions including, but no limited to, equipment manuals, drawing, sketches and preventive/corrective maintenance task list. Generates maintenance work orders to report equipment malfunction or repairs needed for process equipment, control systems, electrical systems, facilities, instrumentation and utilities Participates and supports any technical investigation report using root cause analysis tools such as M1, DIMAIC, ect.) Projects Provides support for capital projects which includes, but not limited to, the introduction of new equipment, new products, new processes, changes in process, formulation changes, equipment upgrades and improvements. Supports validation activities of equipment, product or processes as required. This can include installation, EHS inspection, drawings verification, instrumentation verification, measurements and/or functional testing. Training, SOPs and GMP Instruct and trains new personnel in preventive maintenance task execution and standard operating procedures, as applicable. Stays current on the appropriate policies, procedures, methods and practices including safety guidelines and GMP. Shares technical knowledge with colleagues including manufacturing/packaging operators and technicians for better understanding of equipment maintainability and functionally. Communication Maintains an open and effective channel of communication with Direct Supervisor, Operational areas and Functional areas; this include, but not limited to, Process Engineers, Manufacturing/Packaging Team Leaders, Manufacturing/Packaging Technicians, Manufacturing/Packaging Operators, Instrumentation Technicians, Reliability Engineers, Automation Technicians/Engineers, Machine Shop and HVAC/Utilities Technician, among others. Notifies Planning and Scheduling of any discrepancies and/or opportunities identify during the maintenance work execution. This includes but not limited to parts discrepancies, work duration estimate, craftsmen requirements, permits, etc. Responsible to use the escalation process for the communications of conditions that required a leader to be informed and/or to make a business decision. Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals Associate/Technical degree in Industrial Mechanics, Electricity, Electronics or Instrumentation. 5+ years of Experience on Automation Engineering (Maintenance and/or Projects) including but not limited to PLC's, HMI's, DCS, Historians, Industrial Data Networks, Instrumentation and related hardware. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Knowledge in Network Topologies (Control Net, Device Net, CAN, Flex-Bus, among others) Proficient in the use of CMMS systems. Must be able to execute and document corrective and preventive maintenance completed tasks electronically. Performed maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC's, batch applications, instrumentation, human machine interfaces, control systems, and process network applications used in utilities, manufacturing and packaging equipment. Executed Control System software upgrades, backups, restore, disaster recovery and archiving, as needed. Ability to read and interpret ladder logic programming, function blocks, blueprints, schematics and specifications, and utilizes them to troubleshoot and determine causes of equipment malfunction. Ability to use tools such as electronic testers, oscilloscopes, programmers, data loggers and meters to test instruments, equipment and electronic controls. Knowledge of instrumentation and control system to troubleshoot malfunctions. Ability to understand and make decisions regarding spare parts and preventive maintenance for automated control systems. Assists in the development of specifications, selection, FAT, installation, commissioning and validation process of new utilities and manufacturing/packaging equipment, as well as to improve existing applications. Experience performing operation and design analysis of plant utilities and/or manufacturing/packaging equipment and systems to improve their operation. Experienced in functionality of components such as PLC's, VFD's, Transmitters, Encoders, Servo Motors, Transmissions, Pumps, Motors (AC/DC), Interlocks, Valves, Switches and Actuators, among others.
