Site Name: USA - Massachusetts - Cambridge Posted Date: Jul 13 2021 Operational Performance Manager, R&D Operations The Operational Performance Centre must establish the evidence base for R&D Operations' license to confront what gets in the way of R&D performing as effectively as possible. For R&D Operations personnel to take a bold stance towards asking difficult questions, hard supporting data is needed - the OPC is responsible for generating all aspects of reporting on R&D Operations activities in a timely and accurate way, for both internal and external purposes. The OPC Manager (OPCM) will perform and provide analyses to enable the OPC Lead (OPCL) to deliver this. Reporting to the OPCL, the OPCM will support them in developing performance metrics & KPIs for R&D Operations' that drive laser focus on impact, outcomes and the group's core purpose. Additionally, the OPCM will contribute hands on operational support, subject to their available capacity. Broad knowledge of drug discovery and development, the ability to drive focus, the desire to improve efficiency and thrive in a highly flexible and agile environment are critical elements of this role in order to bring situational perspectives. These responsibilities include some of the following: Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of information. Obtaining input data to inform the development, provision and interpretation of key performance indicators and analyses for Operations (both line by line and in aggregate for Operations). Perform ad-hoc analyses, and provide recommendations to enable informed decision making, such as in areas of major investments and productivity improvement on behalf of Operations and, as required SPOLT. Tracking of metrics and performance of R&D Operations performance. Provision of guidelines for to Operations for data generation and reporting and context for reports generated. Support for Operations strategic business planning and resource planning, particularly forecasting. Provide a consistent framework for performance assessment and evaluation to support decision making. Deliver timely and accurate reporting in the form of regular reports and ad hoc requests. Provide hands on operational support on an ad hoc basis (proportional to available capacity). Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Bachelor's Degree 5+ years in pharma, biotech or associated role Experience with key drug discovery and development processes plus broad appreciation of various R&D business unit capabilities and strategies in order to quickly transition into assignments. Direct experience regarding the application of these processes to increase value to the customer and operations line. Firsthand experience with Clinical, R&D or Operations experience is necessary for enabling the OPM to contextualize strategy, to determine the most effective implementation methodology and provide an engagement platform which motivates staff to deliver the operational plan. Experience within corporate businesses in a consultative or central function, which interfaces with the customer line, can provide insight and produce efficiency. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Certification or license in ADP, PMP, Lean6Sigma, Change Management Specific core capabilities to accomplish this remit include project management, change management, resource management and proficiency in fundamental business planning skills. The ability to understand organizational and business issues which inhibit effective delivery. Conduct insightful analytics - able to disaggregate problems into components and generate clear, testable hypotheses, conduct targeted analytics through strong logic, resourcefulness and pragmatism, interpret data generating relevant insights and highlighting implications Role requires curiosity, a mindset of continuous improvement and ability to motivate stakeholders to engage in analytics undertaken and reports generated.
