Join us at BGCAPP (Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant) where we will design, build, systemize, test, operate and close the plant whose mission is the safe and environmentally sound destruction of the chemical weapons stockpile stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) in Richmond, KY. The 15,000 acre depot stores mustard and nerve agent in rockets and projectiles. Our design concept for the pilot plant maximizes the use of existing technology from other successful chemical demilitarization facilities as well as First of a Kind (FOAK) technology. Parsons is currently seeking Janitor to fill the following positions:

Moving and handling materials (e.g., loading, unloading, digging, hauling, hoisting, carrying, wrapping, mixing, pouring, spreading); washing and cleaning laboratory apparatus, cars and trucks; cleaning and maintaining living quarters, hospital rooms and wards, office buildings, grounds, and other areas; and doing other general maintenance work, by hand or using common hand tools and power equipment. These occupations may involve heavy or light physical work and various skill levels. Skills are generally learned through job experience and instruction from supervisors or, in some instances, short-term formal training programs.

The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishment. Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms. Excluded are:a. Workers who specialize in window washing.b. Housekeeping staff who make beds and change linens as a primary responsibility.c. Workers required to disassemble and assemble equipment in order to clean machinery.d. Workers who receive additional compensation to maintain sterile facilities or equipment.
Typical Responsibilities Include
  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • May be required to work overtime or varying hours to include shift work.
  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Work in close proximity to and or in a chemical demilitarization facility.
  • Must comply with Conduct of Operations (CONOPS).
  • Follow specific direction of Area Supervisor or Control Room Operator as appropriate.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting site bathrooms
  • Cleaning of site kitchens and break rooms
  • Emptying of all trash containers and changing liners when required
  • Wet mopping tile and linoleum floors
  • Replacing paper towels, toilet paper and soap in all restrooms and break rooms
  • Cleaning and disinfecting of microwave units
  • Cleaning and trash removal of all conference rooms
  • Vacuuming all areas as needed and as required/directed
  • Wipe down mini blinds and window sills when directed
  • Dust cubicle walls, overhead storage bins, bookcases and file cabinets when directed
  • Clean windows as needed/directed
  • Occasionally clean out refrigerators and clean and disinfect all interior and exterior surfaces
  • Other janitorial duties as directed
  • Keep up with janitorial supplies and ordering
  • Complete all required certifications.
  • Other duties as requested.



Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be computer literate for required reading and performing time card duties
  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any depot or BGCAPP drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement
  • Must be able to follow procedures and work in a procedurally compliant environment
  • Must be able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment

Desired Qualifications:
  • Industrial experience in a demilitarization facility, chemical plant, nuclear or fossil power generating station, military, industrial service (e.g., secure facilities), or manufacturing plant.
  • Experience working in a toxic/hazardous materials environment
  • Team building skills to achieve excellence with all team members
  • Experienced in Janitorial duties and job functions


BGCAPP is subject to the Army Regulations (AR 50-6 Chemical Surety and AR 190-59 Chemical Agent Security Program) which govern persons performing work under the Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP) and Unescorted Access Program (UAP). Depending on the work performed and the access granted a government security investigation and other physical requirements may be mandated. Eligibility to be placed in a CPRP or UAP position requires US citizenship and the ability to successfully complete a National Agency Check with Local Credit Check. (NACLC).

BGCAPP is a Drug Free Workplace. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment.

This position may also require use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and personnel must pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary function test.

Ability to obtain and maintain Blue Grass Army Depot (BGAD) site access is required. Access requirements include completion of a local records check and National Crime Information Center (NCIC) check.

BGCAPP operates on a 24/7 schedule including weekends and holidays. Ability to work a flexible schedule may be required.
