Principal Associate, Cyber Standards, Procedures, and Controls

As a Principal Associate in Capital One’s Cyber Governance & Risk division, you will work with top talent in an entrepreneurial environment to solve problems and drive solutions to help the company reduce cyber risk. You will work with smart and passionate people to deliver results that have a direct impact on how the company thinks about and manages its cyber risk portfolio. You will take on important responsibilities from day one, working with peers and key stakeholders across the company. You will be challenged to excel alongside the brightest talent in the industry and be rewarded for your achievements. You will act as a trusted advisor and coach to Cyber stakeholders charged with corporate policies, controls, and exceptions to enable the business while safeguarding Capital One customers, data, and brand. Your presentations, reports, and policy documents will flex your communication and data analysis muscles to inform senior executives to drive organizational behaviors and change.

General Responsibilities:
  • Execute and inform processes for monitoring adherence to information security standards with unassailable reporting
  • Execute and inform processes for standards, procedures, controls, and exceptions advisement to ensure teams are well-managed
  • Provide reporting and analysis solutions that demonstrate how our Cyber control program is performing, with recommendations to leadership on ways to drive down risk or adapt to changes in the environment
  • Develop and maintain process documentation including standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, and data flow diagrams to support our team’s delivery
  • Apply your analytical skills to combine a variety of data sources
  • Collaborate across with peers in Cyber and the enterprise
  • Use your expertise, communication skills, and influence to diplomatically solve problems and handle ambiguity
  • Experience real work life balance, with little travel involved


Qualified candidates for this role will have:
  • An appreciation for clear and concise communication to avoid confusion
  • Experience working across different stakeholder groups (ex. Business, technology, audit)
  • Understanding and compassion for the different stakeholders in the risk management framework and the outcomes they hope to achieve
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills


Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 3 years of experience with corporate policies, internal controls, testing, auditing, or risk assessments
  • At least 1 year of experience in a cloud environment
  • At least 1 year of experience in cybersecurity or data privacy


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years of business process improvement or business consulting experience within the financial services industry
  • 1+ years of experience with G-Suite
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or AWSCertification
