Our location in Austin, TX, currently has an opportunity for a Global Field Training Manager.

The Abbott Global CRM Therapies Field Training Manager will provide bold and dynamic leadership and vision on the development, planning, implementation, and tracking of a comprehensive and world-class field training curriculum. The individual will be responsible for leading New Hire Training (NHT) and Tenured Training (TT) education for the Abbott Field Sales and Clinical Support teams across entire CRM portfolio globally to support the business unit's overall strategy and goals.

Using strong leadership skills and agility, the incumbent will be responsible to lead the Global Field Training team:
  • to identify and uncover new training needs and gaps from R&D, Marketing, ProfEd, Sales, and other key stakeholders,
  • to lead the development and design training of solutions, including tracking and measurement components,
  • to review the impact of the training after delivery, and to drive a cycle of continuous improvement


Leveraging a global mindset and a passion for training this role will require the individual to align all Abbott CRM regions on a single global curriculum that can be deployed with minimal modifications to help foster a consistent training experience for all trainees; to help align the messages that our reps and customers hear; and to streamline the amount of training content creation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

STRATEGY
  • Provide leadership and vision on the development, planning, implementation, and execution of field sales training
  • Engage with U.S. Sales Leaders and Global Training Managers to understand needs (training and volume) and lead the design and deployment of scalable training that meets global needs
  • Partner with and lead Global Training Managers by influence on the development of a single global training curriculum that can easily be adapted and deployed in each region by the respective training teams
  • Operate as a member of the Global Marketing Business team to provide direction and vision that supports and drives a globally focused integration of training that is aligned with business unit needs


LEADERSHIP
  • Manage Education Specialists and Trainers to develop content through identification of training needs and gaps from multiple input sources to train new hires and upskills the existing field team
  • Build and develop a team of Education Specialists and Trainers that are highly skilled in designing and applying adult learning concepts to deliver an engaging, effective, and high-quality training curriculum
  • Motivate, influence and lead team to achieve common goals and objectives; anticipate, identify, and resolve high-level problems associated with completing projects and executing programs
  • Foster and drive a culture of best practices that leverages the latest technologies and tools and respects adult learning techniques and instructional design principles
  • Manage the team to ensure efficient development and delivery of training content that consistently meets compliance and quality standards


RUN THE BUSINESS
  • Develop and maintain cross-functional partnerships within R&D, Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Legal, Regulatory to help perpetuate the creation of highly effective training that is and compliant and achieves business objectives and results
  • Lead U.S. field training activities and oversee tracking U.S. field trainee training proficiency; work with U.S. Sales leadership in addressing any trainee learning gaps
  • Facilitate ability for Global Training Managers to track training compliance in single system (if possible)
  • Oversee consistent educational effectiveness and positive trainee experiences by reviewing effectiveness measures and driving a continuous training improvement mindset based on data and feedback
  • Partner with 'U.S. Sales Trainer' (reporting to U.S. Sales) and provide platforms and support to deploy sales training
  • Collaborate with the respective ProfEd lead to enable the efficient transfer of developed content to ProfEd
  • Align with peers in other divisions to position Abbott at the forefront of field training in the industry
  • Manage an annual expense/cost center budget
  • Comply with global regulations and requirements, company policy, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
  • Become an expert within the designated therapy on trainee needs and keep current on developments in the field, specifically on product/therapy knowledge, market, and industry trends


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

Required
  • BA/BS degree and 7+ years experience in the design and delivery of training and education programs for medical device industry OR Masters degree and 5+ years experience in the design and delivery of training and education programs for medical device industry.


Preferred
  • 3+ years management: team oriented with experience
  • Deep understanding of CRM device therapy and Abbott's CRM product portfolio
  • Functional understanding of R&D, Program Management and Marketing functions
  • Affinity for educating others and a demonstrated ability to simplify and articulate complex topics effectively
  • Experience creating multi-media, experiential rich content in blended learning/virtual environment
  • Ability to apply fundamental concepts to conduct needs assessment and design training programs to meet needs
  • Excellent computer and software skills in graphics, word processing, authoring programs, etc. to develop presentation/training materials
  • Ability to work in highly matrixed organization and geographically diverse business environments
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong communication, project management skills to accurately represent project status and deliverables to key stakeholders and management
  • Ability to resolve issues and meet project deadlines
