Do you want to build an incredible iPad and iPhone experience for millions of users?

The iOS team at the New York Times is building a new "How-To" app that will inspire and guide kids to create, build, do and learn. We're looking for product-focused people who love their craft and the unique experiences that native apps can provide. We value learning, trust, and fun.

About Our Code:
  • We are creating a new Swift application with an iPadOS 14 minimum target.
  • We're building on modern frameworks like SwiftUI and Combine.
  • We value testing, clean code, composition, and dependency injection.


Your Responsibilities:
  • You will work with our Lead and Senior Engineer to create and maintain features for our new app using Swift.
  • You will participate in our technical discussions on developing product features.
  • You will help promote standards in Swift development and delivery, and engage with the community of iOS developers at the Times.
  • Where applicable, you will integrate with broader New York Times iOS platform code.


Your Qualifications:
  • You have an understanding of iOS design patterns, memory management and concurrency.
  • You have hands-on iOS Swift experience, including writing unit tests.
  • You enjoy working with a remote team and understand how to make the most of asynchronous collaboration.
  • You enjoy collaboration with others on a technical team, have a good product sense, and the vision to translate product goals into quality code.
