Derivatives Valuation Associate - Risk & Analytics Group

The Derivatives Associate will join the Risk & Analytics group in the Derivatives Middle Office. The group owns risk analytics, scenario analysis and product management for derivatives, providing results to Finance, Trading, Risk Management, Treasury and Portfolio Management. The individual will have a high level of derivatives expertise and work within a team environment to both contribute to and lead certain team initiatives. Responsibilities, given below, are well integrated within a strong group environment. The individual will also serve as the primary analytics contact for fixed income investments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a lead in projects that require subject matter expertise related to risk and analytics and the derivatives ecosystem.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and participate in projects relating to global regulatory initiatives which impact the company - currently ongoing initiatives are Libor Transition and Initial Margin. Contribute to expanding capabilities to support growing business needs and associated new derivatives products.
  • Validate analytics such as duration, convexity and OAS for all fixed income assets. Perform reasonableness checks, identify analytics exceptions and overrides if necessary.
  • Provide signoff for monthly scenario analysis signoff and liaise with Risk, Treasury, IT and our vendor to oversee asset shock scenario processes such as Economic Capital, Stress testing and parallel/combination shocks.
  • Development and support of enterprise level stress test processes for capital, liquidity and statutory work streams.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams which include representatives from ALM, Finance, Front Office, Middle Office, IT, Treasury and Risk Management.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Understanding of derivative valuations models, associated market data; Good understanding of bond math.
  • In-depth knowledge of derivative investment products, financial markets and risk principles.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills including object-oriented programming, Python, Excel, SQL.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
  • Can perform under pressure within a team atmosphere to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to understand technology solutions.

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Finance, and/or Mathematics, MBA or MS.
  • Strong derivatives product knowledge in addition to familiarity with Numerix, Murex or Blackrock Aladdin.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tool (Power BI).
