Position: AVP - Dental/Vision/Supplemental Health Finance

Job Location: Baltimore, MD or Remote

Department: This position is within the Group Benefits CFO organization in the Financial Management Group. The CFO organization is responsible for financial oversight of the Group Benefit business plan, working as trusted advisors to our business partners to develop and execute key business strategies to create shareholder value.

The Role : You will report to the Product Finance Versant Health CFO within the Group Benefits CFO organization. This role has responsibility for overseeing financial manners with regard to Versant Health's Vision products, Dental, and Supplemental Health. Working closely with claim operations, product/pricing, valuation, sales, client management and controllers, responsibilities include monitoring underwriting and operations metrics, forecasting financials, developing financial plans consistent with business strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for analyzing actual results and understanding the variance, and general financial management to support product development and operation initiatives and regulation compliances.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide financial support to business partners to develop/execute business strategies
  • Develop annual financial plans consistent with business strategies
  • Analyze underlying business and operation drivers to support monthly projection, quarterly financial review, and variance analysis
  • Support and track business strategies and executions
  • Work with other corporate partners, including Actuarial Resources, Controllers, Risk Management, Legal and Tax departments with regard to regulatory and financial manners
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support other CFO functions
  • Assist with translating financial date into an executive level summary/story
  • Assist CFO with executive level presentations


Key Relationships:
  • Reports to: CFO of Product Finance Versant Health, Group Benefits
  • Direct Reports: 5 FTES, 1 consultant
  • Other Key Stakeholders: Product Development & Pricing, Actuarial Resources, Claim/Service operations, Controllers, Functional plan owners and other finance partners


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, with at least 4 years of management experience
  • Health products experience (product development, pricing or valuation) preferred, especially Dental and Accident/Hospital
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with GAAP, Stat and , Tax and Embedded Value principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to explain results clearly and concisely to non-technical business partners
  • Ability to work through an integrated team across organizations and locations to produce results within tight timeframes
