Job Description

Motorola Solutions is looking for candidates with experience building multi-tenant software applications on scalable cloud infrastructure in a commercial product setting. We use an event driven microservices architecture primarily using the latest AWS cloud architecture models to ingest large amounts of data quickly, find security anomalies in that data through analytics and raise awareness of those anomalies.

The ability to collaborate, prototype, design and implement solutions in a growing team is a must. The successful candidate will be able to quickly adapt and learn while assuming lead in various multiple areas of the product and within the engineering team itself. There is lots of room for career growth in this role while working on some market-leading technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the product engineering team through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and capacity planning.
  • Maintaining our products by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Scaling components sustainably through mechanisms like automation.
  • Improving overall reliability and engineering velocity by pushing meaningful changes to any comoonent of the product.
  • Writing our own integrations with third party security solutions and event sources.
  • Leading incident response, conducting RCAs and participating in periodic on call duties.


Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience as a software or systems engineer deploying on Linux servers.
  • 5+ years professional experience writing any of C, C++, Go or Python.
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience of production workloads in AWS.
  • 1+ years using docker, preferably with AWS Fargate.
  • 2+ years knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL database architecture and administration such as Postgres and Redis.
  • Proven ability troubleshooting production problems.
  • Infrastructure-as-code and concepts and tooling such as Ansible, Terraform and AWS Cloudformation.


Desired Skills:
  • Prior experience working as an SRE.
  • Knowledge of Jenkins or a similar CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience with Azure Cloud or Google GCP.
  • Implementing cloud-native / microservices solutions using AWS Lambda, Fargate, SQS, EC2, VPC, IAM.
  • Familiarity with Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Strong understanding of Javascript language principles, its modern use, and application to web development. Although we don't normally change the "front end" we will fix things if we need to.
  • Experience delivering multi-tenant Software-as-a-Service in a commercial product environment.
  • Use of big data analytics tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Elasticsearch.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Professional or Associates certification
  • RHCE


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related program and 3+ years of Software Engineering experience or 5+ years of Software Engineering experience.
