External Laboratory Supervisor

Job Overview:

Labcorp Drug Development is looking for a External Laboratory Supervisor to join their team! Responsibilities will be but are not limited to:
  • Train business partners (External labs) to understand Labcorp Drug Development CLS business.
  • Support global business integration by participating in establishment of processes, policies, business improvement mapping, and deployment training for product release.
  • Responsible for issue resolution pertaining to External laboratories, obtaining root cause and preventative actions from the referral laboratory or inside ELMS.
  • Facilitates technical discussions with appropriate staff at the referral laboratories, Medical Affairs, Global Heads of CCLS, Scientists of CCLS, Project Management and/or Sponsor as needed to appropriately understand the client needs and the service capability of the referral laboratory.
  • Provide some support to Sourcing dept for the establishment of contract if needed
  • Provide some support to Quality Assurance dept for the conduction of audits if needed
  • Identify gaps and opportunities to further enhance Signature Client Service through project management excellence.
  • Accountable for the implementation, monitoring and reporting of internal performance metrics and take corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships with key laboratories in order to influence positive client and Labcorp Drug Development outcomes.
  • Serve as point of contact for escalations for external laboratory management services issues.
  • Provide leadership within the department by performing duties such as:
  • Training
  • Coaching of assigned team members
  • Assisting other administrators in working through complex problems
  • Leading special projects
  • Development plans
  • Responsible for maintaining his/her complete up-to-date training file. Individual is responsible for ensuring he/she is trained and training is documented prior to performing a task. Individual is accountable for any deficiencies found in his/her training file.
  • Provide technical information, both written and verbal, to Marketing, Sales, Sourcing, Project Management, DBSS and internal Labcorp Drug Development CLS personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned


Preferred Grad MT/MLT, BS/BA degree , Baccalaureate or equivalent education certification.

Optional MD or PhD


Minimum Required:

  • 2 years of successful project management experience
  • Experience in change management and influencing without authority
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading change
  • 2 years proven experience in managing client or vendor relationships

  • 4 years of CCLS experience or similar position outside Labcorp Drug Development CLS
  • Knowledge of drug development, central laboratories
  • Knowledge/experience with formal process improvement discipline (eg, Lean, Six Sigma)
