Job Description Summary

All activities relating to enhancing services technology integrating customer data, or capturing engines/products reliability, availability, maintenance, safety The Product Service Vibration & Diagnostics Lead Engineer will establish resolutions for customer issues, focused on rotating component & structural vibration, along with operability & process issues. As the recognized vibration & operability expert in Services, you will partner with customers and GE stakeholders on a wide range of site specific and fleet wide challenges associated with Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators and Accessories equipment.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide technology leadership globally for drive train vibrations (gas turbines, steam turbines and generators and accessories equipment)
  • Lead root cause investigations for issues with significant fleet impact from initial investigation through the CAPA phase
  • Resolve in depth, technical issues in drive train & accessories technology for customers, timely and efficiently
  • Work with field teams to Assure assure that all assetscomponent designs meet design intention in as built condition requirements for successful customer operations
  • Support and coordinate with interfacing organizations such as product line, service shops, manufacturing, sourcing, services operations, and design engineering, to fulfill customer needs.
  • Support service programs, fulfillment, and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
  • Provide strong guidance and contribution to DMP and design to cost projects
  • Communicate progress across all levels of the organization, including plant operators and executive leaders
  • Serve as a regional and hemispherical leader & technical expert, mentor and develop other vibration & diagnostics engineers, acting as the technical backstop in high impact, customer discussions, and GE presence as users groups and industry conferences


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in engineering
  • A minimum of 9 years of mechanical engineering, aero electrical engineering, or controls related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of vibration & rotor or rotor dynamics machinery diagnostic engineering experience


Desired Characteristics
  • Master's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, materials, systems, or aero electrical or controls engineering
  • , or MBA.
  • A minimum of 15 years of mechanical engineering related experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of gas turbine, steam turbine, generator and/or accessories engineering or aero engine experience or related technology
  • A minimum of 10 years of vibration & machinery diagnostics experience
  • Experience w/ vibration data collection; DAQ systems (preferably ADRE 408), instrumentation, and other equipment and tests often completed to support rotating component and structural vibration diagnostics (impact tests, thermal growth studies, etc.)
  • Prior experience in a customer support/facing role; strong commercial mindset that anticipates customer needs and ensures that they are met
  • Self-starter with initiative and interpersonal skills to direct projects and work, of cross- functional nature, with demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to work well with teams and communicate requests and requirements clearly
