Testing Engineer

The Testing Engineer is responsible for balancing and testing of power generator rotating equipment at the GE Richmond Service Center.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform balancing and testing of rotating equipment from power generation sites.
  • Operate testing equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, vibration monitoring equipment, etc.)
  • Produce Final Reports from testing data.
  • Compile, assimilate, and analyze data from various sources and make recommendations.
  • Monitor and advise on test progress; comply with safety, quality, and schedule requirements.
  • Review, modify, and create production & engineering standards for vibration and balance testing.
  • Review process & production instructions for accuracy.
  • Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.
  • Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Provides direction during testing to hourly associates.
  • May lead continuous improvement projects.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in engineering and/or testing environment.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays when needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm during periods of change to schedule and testing parameters.
  • Ability to read, modify, and create technical drawings.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
