Job Description

Candidate should exhibit the following skills:

1. Experience with 3D Modeling processes acquired through working with 3D software such as Catia or Nx. This should include a full & considerable knowledge of piping system requirements as it relates to all aspects of building ships.

2. Ability to lead discussions and incorporate design aspects with manufacturing, tooling, materials and planning trades.

3. Ability to lead collaboration efforts with Engineering, Planning and Operations to develop new and innovative processes in support of the digital products being produced for the NNS Shipbuilding Programs utilizing digital build products instead of 2D drawings.

4. A penchant for critical thinking and innovation.

5. A fundamental understanding of engineering, construction, manufacturing processes, and operations.

6. Superior communication skills and a desire to help educate others

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM, NX, or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Basic Qualifications

Associates Degree and 3 years of experience. 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associates degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associates degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associates degree.
