Sr Employee Relations Specialist

Job Description

Responsible for ensuring the fair treatment of employees and effective communication between employees and leaders. Resolves workplace conflicts and employee concerns and advises leaders regarding performance-related strategies. Conducts investigations into employee complaints. Provides counsel to employees and leaders regarding Human Resources policies and associated actions and assists with effective implementation in accordance with Company policy and within regulatory, legal and OFCCP guidelines.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Investigates employee complaints, discrimination charges and grievances
  • Crafts strategies for resolving personnel issues and facilitates remedial actions as needed
  • Recommends disciplinary and termination actions and serves as liaison with OGC as required to effect these actions while mitigating risk to the Company
  • Maintains current knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations and advises employees in accordance with legal parameters and company policies
  • Maintains current knowledge of regulatory and compliance developments affecting areas of responsibility
  • Interprets and administers human resources policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment law
  • Provides consultation and coaching to leaders and employees.
  • Works with legal counsel on lawsuit discovery, litigation preparation and subpoena response
  • Represents Company and serves as company witness in support of unemployment hearings, arbitrations, and other employee-related procedures.
  • Provides cross-functional support to Labor Relations team
  • Participates in enterprise-wide projects/initiatives (approx. 10% of time).
  • Completes Workday transactions as necessary to support position duties.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ Years HR experience
  • 3+ Years in-depth experience with one or more Human Resources functional specialties.
  • Working knowledge of human resource management principles, best practices and applicable legal and governmental compliance regulations.
  • Experience with principles and practices of investigation and research, including interview techniques, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques and data collection.
  • Experience conducting complex employee investigations and witness interviews
  • Strong understanding of policies, procedures, and legislation related to employment practices
  • Experience with Government Contractor/OFCCP/Affirmative Action regulations
  • Excellent interaction skills, including timely responsiveness and positive, solutions-focused
  • Aptitude for problem solving and analyzing processes
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel
