The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position will require 25% travel.

The US pharmaceutical market is large, profitable and still growing. The US healthcare system continues to advance regulatory approaches that favor innovation, including accelerated reviews for break-through therapies. The pharmaceutical pricing and market access environment, however, is under in-creasing pressure which is causing reductions in access to medications for appropriate patients.

Novartis has operated at the forefront of the managed care industry and is taking further steps to address both the near-term managed care and healthcare systems issues as well as the longer-term sustainability of the US pricing and access model. As part of our efforts to remain at the forefront, Novartis is increasing sophistication and customization of market access strategies to address access stakeholders shared priorities around advanced data analytics, digital innovation, health inequities, population health management and other emerging related priorities.

The Executive Director-SQUAD LEAD - Healthcare Systems Access & Engagement will be responsible with the other squad members for the conceptualization, strategy development and implementation of innovative Access & population health Engagements across organized accounts covering the entire Pharma portfolio and pipeline, alongside US Pharma’s customer facing teams. The Squad lead will prioritize addressing the urgent, and unmet, clinical challenges via collaborative engagements with large, integrated health care entities.

The Squad Lead will be part of our bold efforts to reimagine access for Novartis and will engage with all levels of the organization, identifying areas of opportunity, and drive change. S/He will lead strategic core population health access initiatives across the business that will have long lasting impact on CV New Products and pipeline.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• The ideal candidate is passionate about both strategy and execution and is able to translate strategy to impact. He/ she will play an integral role in driving excellence in execution across the newly created function with a focus on population health and will work closely with several senior leadership team members.
• This person will be a self-starter eager to change and ready to challenge assumptions. This individual is a skilled influencer and is able to interact with various levels of seniority, within and outside of our divisions and Novartis. The Squad Lead is passionate about simplification, leadership, and problem solving.

Minimum requirements

This position will require up to 20% travel as defined by the business (domestic and/ or international).

Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA preferred
• A minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience preferred in a matrix environment, with a deep understanding of US pharmaceutical value chain and its business processes
Preferred:
• Excellent understanding of agile methodology, agile collaboration tools and rituals, Scrum certification preferred
• Demonstrated track record of taking medium scale, multi-year account engagements in or outside the healthcare space from ideation and conceptualization to strategy development, implementation and post-launch impact monitoring and evaluation
• Highly conversant in the language of healthcare ecosystem evolution at the confluence of emerging decision makers and influencers, technology and analytics, and public policy and community engagement
• In-depth knowledge of patient access, launch excellence, marketing and business processes and ability to analyze complex business issues
