Job Description Summary

Leader of the GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Wilmington Dedication Center, which includes commercial grade dedication activities at the Philadelphia Service Center, and SCO Calibration Laboratory Quality organizations. This position leads a team of 12 employees. In this role, you will be responsible for effectively training, leading, developing and managing Dedication and Gage Lab inspectors. The Wilmington Dedication Center and Philadelphia Service Center are focused on inspection and test of Commercial Grade parts used in Safety Related applications in the Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Parts product lines. The SCO Gage Lab provides calibration services for GEH and GNF-A, including remote sites.

Job Description

The Wilmington Dedication Center and SCO Gage Lab Manager has overall responsibility to develop, maintain and execute quality programs designed to ensure Electrical, Electronics, and Mechanical Parts products and processes, as well as Gage Calibration processes, meet all required standards and customer quality expectations. In this position, you will lead a team responsible for implementation of quality activities to achieve compliance and execute process improvements. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and communicate quality strategy for the WDC/Gage Lab team, including:
    • Wilmington Dedication Center
    • Philadelphia Service Center
    • SCO Gage Lab
    • SCO Quality Records Configuration Management
  • Be responsible for related quality activities, including planning and execution elements for all contractual, US and international quality obligations.
  • Lead team in implementing processes to ensure quality control for all projects.Assure released products and services reliably meet all requirements (quality and regulatory).
  • Ownership of 12+ CP's and WI's in addition to multiple Gage Inspection Standards.
  • Provide oversight for key processes, including review and approval of quality documents, drawings, dedication specifications, quality plans, and procedures.Responsible for final review and release of all Dedicated items.
  • Work seamlessly with Commercial Project Managers, Responsible Engineers, Supplier Quality Engineers, and Sourcing to meet customer deliverables while meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to become certified as an ANSI Level III Mechanical and/or Electrical Dedication inspector.
  • Train, certify, and maintain certifications of all hourly reports.
  • Represent WDC and Gage Lab in customer and regulatory audits and visits.
  • Support Quality and Audit related activities at the Philadelphia Service Center as needed.
  • Provide QA Administrator support for Morris, IL fuel storage facility compliance activities.
  • Help develop and drive the culture of Lean, continuous improvement and a strong Nuclear Safety Culture throughout the organization. Visible leader and participant in robust Lean and observation programs.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators and provide status reports and recommended actions.
  • Support internal and external quality audits.

  • Champion positive employee relations. Foster employee engagement and ensure that business goals are effectively communicated to employees.Support talent development.

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in a quality, technical, manufacturing, operations, or nuclear services role
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory or managerial experience
  • Minimum 1 year of industry or military experience with at least one of the following:
    • Experience working with a certified nuclear quality management system
    • Quality Control or Quality Assurance position

  • Ability to use computers
  • Must maintain after hours cell phone availability

  • Domain expertise on quality system requirements, preferably in the nuclear industry (EPRI-5652; 10CFR50, Appendix B; NQA-1; and 10CFR21)
  • Experience interacting with leadership at customer and/or regulatory organizations. Ability to connect in an authentic, meaningful way with customers and other external constituents.
  • Proven record of accomplishment driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence stakeholders and build trust with customers, managers and team members
  • Strong operating background. Ability to sift through complex information and focus on the critical few priorities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and effectively interact with all levels of management to resolve issues that cross organizational boundaries.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to lead a highly trained and experienced team of technicians.
  • Manufacturing quality, production and/or engineering experience.
  • Ability to develop and guide implementation of test and inspection strategies to validate component performance to established acceptance criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform data and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)
  • Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification. Practical experience with identifying opportunities for and designing changes to processes based on Lean.
  • GE Program graduate, e.g., OMLP, EEDP (GE employees only).
