Develops and contributes to the development and validation of data processing applications and performs bioinformatics activities required for the successful launch and execution of assays in accordance with CLIA and CAPA requirements. These include analysis of next-generation sequencing data and protein biomarkers from clinical trial samples.

Note: Other duties may be assigned

•Participates in the design, development, and validation of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis pipelines or other software applications required for analytical test systems.
•Performs NGS data analysis for SNP calling, structural variant calling, and indel analyses
•Performs biomarker analysis using established methodologies
•Performs QC and participates in change control activities as needed
•Develops and contributes to the validation of applications to support workflows and storage of molecular and clinical data as well as the integration with LIMS systems
•Support software development/validation and/or statistical analysis activities of clinical testing from concept to completion. Consults with peers as required
•Quickly learns the use of tools, data sources and analytical techniques needed to answer a wide range of critical business questions
•Maintains accurate records related to all work with software development and validation, and data analysis activities and project results
•Articulates solutions/recommendations to business users. Works with senior bioinformatics and data science team to present analytical content concisely and effectively
•Will participate in cross functional teams and projects. May communicate findings or data to management
•Guides and/or collaborates successful execution of projects and processes
•Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects
•Independently prioritizes multiple projects and workload
•Will contribute to launch of new platforms/assays or manage projects of strategic importance
•Identifies challenges and communicates to leadership
•Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources

Minimum requirements

•BS/MS/PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science or related field
•2+ years of industry experience preferred
•Familiarity with fundamental concepts in cancer genomics, statistics, and bioinformatics
•Familiarity with machine learning and data science
•Knowledge of oncology, clinical and translational science preferred
•Demonstrated statistical and analytical ability with programming expertise in R or Python
•Proficiency with Linux tools and Bash scripting preferred
•Experience in pipeline development, experience with AWS is a plus
•Experience with current analysis methods for processing and mining NGS data
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work effectively within a team and to take ownership of challenging problems
