JOB SUMMARY

This role develops and contributes to the development and validation of data processing applications and performs bioinformatics and data analysis activities required for the successful launch and execution of assays in accordance with CLIA and FDA requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Note: Other duties may be assigned
•Participates in the design, development, and validation of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data analysis and bioinformatics pipelines or other software applications required for analytical test systems
•Performs NGS data analysis for SNP calling, structural variant calling, and indel analyses
•Performs biomarker analysis using established methodologies
•Performs QC and participates in change control activities as needed
•Develops and contributes to the validation of applications to support workflows and storage of molecular and clinical data as well as the integration with LIMS systems
•Directs routine tasks of associates with and without authority
•Independently prioritizes multiple projects and workload
•Receives general oversight and guidance on approaches to complete project related tasks
•Participate in cross functional teams and projects
•Key point of contact for other functional teams
•Provide direction to more junior associates in the team
•Trains and assists staff with technical and operational procedures
•Achieves desired department results while operating within established methods, procedures and guidelines
•Determines solutions to a variety of work problems
•Identifies and troubleshoots problems that may adversely affect test performance/results
•Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects
•Maintains accurate records related to all work with software development and validation, and data analysis activities and project results
•Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would normally have a substantial impact
•Quickly learns the use of tools, data sources and analytical techniques needed to answer a wide range of critical business questions
•Articulates solutions/recommendations to business users. Works with senior science team members to present analytical content concisely and effectively

Minimum requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
•PhD or MS with equivalent experience, in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, biology, or a related field
•Minimum of 3 years, of experience required with MS. Minimum of 6 years of experience required with BS
•Demonstrated knowledge of data visualization and exploratory analysis
•Proficiency in R/Python and competency working in a Linux environment (Bash)
•Strong knowledge and understanding of statistical methods such as meta-analysis, Bayesian methods, bagging/boosting, variable selection methods, design of experiments
•Experience in Statistical and Machine Learning techniques
•Experience in pipeline development, experience with AWS is a plus
•Familiarity with fundamental concepts in cancer genomics, immuno-oncology, and bioinformatics
•Experience with current analysis methods for processing and mining NGS data
•Experience with current analysis methods for processing biomarker data from RNA and proteins
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven ability to work effectively within a team and to take ownership of challenging problems
