Are you a natural born trainer? This new role with American Water may be looking for you! Pennsylvania American Water is seeking a Senior Supervisor, Operations Trainer to take the reigns on our training program and make a direct impact on how our new and exisiting workforce learns the water utility trade. This role will sit at our facility in Carnegie, PA and will be responsible for creating, developing and executing training plans for our employees. You will provide both hands-on skills and classroom training and aide our workforce in making sure they have the knowledge and confidence to perform field work safely and effectively.

Primary Role

As the Senior Supervisor, Operations Trainer, you must possessthe hands-on knowledge to train employees in the required duties of their classification. This includes design, development and coordination of training programs as well as evaluation and implementation of policies and procedures. You will be expected to model American Water values in all activities and communications

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as the On the job trainer
  • Ensure policies and practices are rolled out and understood by all employees.
  • Perform site audits following training to confirm implementation.
  • Conduct field training for employees.
  • Provide coaching and correction as needed in the field.
  • Participate in SIF investigations and taproot investigations to develop mitigation plan.
  • Communicate and implement new practices to employees.
  • Evaluate practices to ensure effectiveness and propose revisions as needed


Additional Key Accountabilities

Onboarding
  • Ensure new hires are set up with necessary equipment and access before they start.
  • Oversee online onboarding and serve as local resource for questions or information


Knowledge / Skill-set evaluation
  • Qualify new hires or transfers in their classification and document
  • Create and maintain required task list for each classification
  • Analyze job site audit information to identify areas that need addressed or corrected. Design and implement mitigation efforts.


Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to communicate and transfer knowledge and skills to employees
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Situational awareness and ability to recognize and address discrepancies
  • Project management skills
  • High level understanding of T&D, Production, Commercial workflow process
  • Knowledge of company and regulatory procedures related to Health and Safety, environmental, and customer satisfaction requirements.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures and management theories, practices, and trends.
  • Knowledge in the use of computer programs including Office 365
  • General working knowledge of learning management systems (LMS)


Experience/Education

  • 2 year or 4 year degree in operational discipline, management, or related technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ year relevant industry experience with proven experience of meeting performance targets


Travel Requirements

  • Regular daily travel in local area


Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid driver license
  • Must have or be able to obtain the appropriate DEP water license


Work Environment

  • Indoor and outdoor. Comfortable working in all types of weather.
