Sr. Accountant (Union)

Are you an aspiring Accountant, looking for that next opportunity to advance your career? This may be the role for you. We have an available opportunity as an Senior Accountant in the Asset Accounting Department we'd like you to consider.

You will:

  • Enter data and records transactions in Powerplan/Peoplesoft which form the basis of the Company's financial statements.

  • Prepare and analyzes schedules for outside auditors, explaining variances.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports from Peoplesoft to federal and state agencies.

  • Prepare analysis and reconciliation of certain income statement and balance sheet accounts.

  • Respond to data requests from internal and external sources.

  • Assist in implementing accounting changes or workflow improvements.

  • Complete other accounting or related projects as assigned.

  • Prepare allocation of costs.

  • Produce ledgers and summaries and reconciles output.

  • Perform "as if" scenarios using Peoplesoft.

  • Prepare reports in Peoplesoft for internal/external use.

Please note this is a union role and subject to our collective bargaining agreement (CBA)

You have:

  • Associate's Degree Accounting or Business, with a minimum of 21 credit hours of appropriate accounting coursework required, plus minimum of 12 months relevant work experience.

  • High School Diploma/GED plus three years relevant business experience.

  • Ability to demonstrate functional and technical proficiency within six months of being in the position.

  • PC skills and ability to create or improve existing applications.

  • Ability to use PeopleSoft and Microsoft Excel to enter, retrieve, manipulate and report data.

  • Ability to demonstrate a firm understanding of accounting theory and ability to apply these principles to work assignments with limited supervision.

  • Ability to apply GAAP and FERC regulations.

  • Ability to handle multiple work assignments. Ability to pay attention to detail on accounting related projects and transactions.

  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of work product produced. Performs other duties as assigned.
