BMS is seeking a Senior Research Associate or Associate Scientist to join the Vector Analytics group within the Analytical Development Department. The successful candidate will join a team performing method development for viral vectors as key intermediates in cellular therapy drug products.

Job Description:
  • Establish analytical methods for viralvectors, including biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays.
  • Design, execute, and analyze method development experiments.
  • Document experiments in electronic lab notebook system.
  • Perform qualification studies for analytical methods per established guidance.
  • Author, review and approve technical documents including standard operating procedures, test methods, and technical reports.
  • Present findings to Vector Analytics team and other relevant internal groups.
  • Partner with Research, Process Development, and Quality to develop and transfer analytical methods for the release of viral vectors.

Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in a scientific or engineering discipline with 2+ years (M.S.) or 4+ years (B.S.) of relevant experience in analytical methods for Senior Research Associate; or 4+ years (M.S.) or 6+ years (B.S.) for Associate Scientist.
  • Demonstrated ability with cell culture, qPCR and RT-qPCR, DNA and RNA isolation, viral/vector transduction, and ELISAs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize work on multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills in technical writing and oral presentation.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with software including GraphPad, SoftMax, VectorNTI, and Geneious.
  • Experience with designing and optimizing PCR-based assays.
  • Understanding of ICH/FDA/EMEA regulations and guidance for analytical methods.
  • Background in virology or viral vector biology.
  • Familiarity with qPCR/ddPCR methodology and software, cell-based assays.
  • Experience interfacing with research organizations and GMP test laboratories.
