BS/MS Scientist, Cell Biology and Pharmacology

The Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease Area (CVM) at Novartis Institute of Biomedical Research (NIBR) is committed to discovering transformative medicines to treat cardiovascular and metabolic disorders that will change this alarming statistic.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our Cell Pharmacology group in CVM. We conceive, develop, validate and employ biochemical and cell biology tools to evaluate and develop new therapeutics against a range of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Plan and perform biochemical, biophysical, and cell-based assays
•Develop and execute cell-based assays using cell lines, as well as primary and iPS-derived cells, for example iPSc-derived cardiomyocytes
•Support target validation, mechanism-of-action, and drug discovery projects
•Conduct data analyses and documentation of experiments
•Collaborate while working in a matrix environment to support drug discovery projects
•Keep good laboratory, data recording and data documentation practices.
•Present results in lab and department meetings

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
•BS/MS degree in biochemistry, cell biology, or other life science field (BS + 4-5 years or MS + 2-3 years of experience)
•Knowledge of biochemical and cell-based assays and cell culture techniques
•Detail-oriented with the ability to quickly grasp new techniques
•Knowledge of statistics and computational data analyses skills
•Excellent team player, who demonstrates good communication skills, creative problem-solving capabilities, and enjoys working in a collaborative environment
•Strong written, oral and record keeping skills
•Flexibility and aptitude for learning, with a passion to drive groundbreaking science
