The Director of Global Clinical Performance with UHC Global is responsible for supporting the development and execution of high value clinical strategies that deliver better population health through improved clinical outcomes, improved quality and patient safety, reduced total costs of care and improved member experiences. Balanced with tactical execution and operating discipline, this leader will partner with multiple global clinical leaders and matrix functional partners to advance priority clinical initiatives that will shape and drive the overall clinical performance of global markets and resolve business problems that affect multiple markets. This leader will facilitate clinical collaboration across markets as well as alignment with the business. This position reports into the Chief Medical Officer/SVP of UHC Global and partners with clinical and business leaders. As such, this role requires an innovative, detail-oriented leader with an executive presence, impeccable written communication, strong relationship skills, and a solid foundation in care management and care delivery who will thrive when challenged with the opportunity to optimize the management and delivery of global health care.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build organizational capabilities and operating discipline to support the execution of high-priority clinical strategies
  • Work cross-functionally in team-of-teams construct within and across multiple teams and leaders to accelerate implementation of strategic clinical priorities and clinical model transformation in alignment with business strategies
  • Develop Cost Benefit Analyses (CBAs) and drive strategies based on data driven analysis and insights in collaboration with local markets
  • Accurately develop program scope documents, project plans, track and monitor program performance and update relevant stakeholders on status of initiatives utilizing internal tools and processes including KPI dashboards, scorecards, project plans, and other reports
  • Analyze business and clinical process information (e.g., metrics; analytics) to identify key issues, trends, and potential root causes (e.g., training issues; lack of understanding by user community) that point to improvement opportunities
  • Work with relevant stakeholders (e.g., end users; SMEs; sponsors) to establish appropriate criteria and goals (e.g., efficiency; effectiveness) to direct investigation into problems and potential solutions
  • Analyze program performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement; support development of local, cross-functional analysis capabilities
  • Partner with applicable stakeholders to identify the operational and clinical impact of defined solutions (e.g., changes to policies/processes/procedures, compliance with applicable legal/regulatory requirements, etc.), mitigate applicable risks and establish change management processes to drive effective launch and deployment of strategic initiatives
  • Support local clinical teams in translation of evidence-based guidelines into clinical protocols, utilization management policies, and case management practices
  • Support clinical quality and patient safety strategic priorities to eliminate preventable harm and achieve optimal clinical quality outcomes
  • Prepare and present executive level presentations, reports and business reviews
  • Obtain needed resources (e.g., different functional teams; subject matter experts; internal and/or external stakeholders) to implement clinical solutions
  • Drive accountability with all partners: establish and maintain effective accountability gates (check ins and reporting on progress and barriers) with local clinical teams and corporate clinical & functional partners
  • Communicate with and provide guidance and expertise to stakeholders to ensure comprehensive, coordinated strategies, solution development and flawless execution
  • Establish and maintain effective platforms for cross-market collaboration and sharing

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health related or business field
  • 7+ years of management/leadership experience in a complex health care operation, health insurance, healthcare delivery system, or other healthcare related business environment.
  • Sound operational focus with demonstrated data analysis/interpretation acumen, project management, change management, communication and execution skills
  • Solid foundation in evidence-based medicine, clinical guideline development and management, utilization management, and population health
  • Experience working with little direct supervision and drive results with disciplined follow-though, and self-motivation
  • Solid strategic thinking and business acumen with experience in aligning clinical strategies and recommendations with business objectives
  • Adaptable and flexible style of collaborating with key stakeholders in setting direction
  • Proven ability to quickly build relationships, gain credibility, influence, and partner with key business leaders
  • High integrity with a reputation of consensus builder, trusted confidential advisor and partner
  • Sound knowledge of health/medical industry/insurance and benefits
  • Excellent people management and team development skills
  • Executive presentation and negotiation skills
  • Solid analytical and financial skills
  • Detail-oriented and proactive thinker linking activities to strategy

  • Experience managing challenging conversations with appropriate interpersonal dynamics and sensitivity to cultural norms and international nuances

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Licensed clinician credentials
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Familiarity with alternative models of health care delivery with international experience

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $130,300 to $250,200.
