The Senior Digital Consultant is a health system facing role that will be responsible for leading implementation projects to enable providers to integrate Optum Risk Adjustment and Quality (HEDIS/Stars) programs within provider technologies, including EMRs, VBC platforms and other proprietary provider tools. This role will work directly with health system technical, functional, and leadership resources daily, requiring good communication and solution skills. They will also work with cross-functional internal teams to complete deliverables, achieve milestones and manage risks/issues across multiple/concurrent integration projects. The Senior Digital Consultants perform the technical aspects of the health system integration into the Digital Assessment program. They will contribute to regular status reporting, identify trends of issues and opportunities, define ongoing product development needs/enhancements, and contribute to the development and review of controls reporting, outcomes reporting, and goal setting/glide path reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Positions in this function are involved in the definition, management, and implementation of technology focused projects/programs
  • Business specialists and technology generalists that manage, direct and interface with business clients
  • Individuals in this function may be involved in:
    • Defining work strategies, aligning these with resources and desired client outcomes, and overseeing planning and execution of the work
    • Ensuring technology solutions are managed to support business strategies, often working with senior management
    • Directing the integration of technical aspects of all related projects/programs
    • Conducting analyses, needs assessments, and cost/benefit assessments and helping to broker other technology services
    • Monitoring financials to ensure budget compliance
    • Release management
  • Projects are more stand-alone than programs; program management is typically the orchestration of several related projects
  • Reviews the work of others
  • Develops innovative approaches
  • Sought out as expert
  • Serves as a leader/mentor

This role requires that the individual is self-motivated, assumes responsibility easily and can work autonomously. Key characteristics include the ability to form strong health system relationships and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical resources. Must also possess a strong desire and affinity for learning new processes and technologies quickly as well as maintaining a strong attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of combined experience across Healthcare and/or IT domains leading technology projects with provider organizations specific to software integration or equivalent experience working with provider organizations on VBC, Risk Adjustment or Quality programs
  • 2+ years of experience with resource management and/or large-scale project management
  • Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems e.g. Epic, Cerner, Allscripts
  • Experience leading projects where there are unique requirements and timelines for specific provider group needs and have the ability to adjust each project plan accordingly while driving projects to closure
  • Experience documenting, reporting, and tracking resolution issues, tasks, connection points within Optum and with providers, and continuously communicate status by provider group in different forums
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Epic applications
  • Obtained current Epic certifications including one in Epic Data Model certification(s) including Clarity Data Model OR other related modules
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues and proactively seek solutions
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
