Summary of Job Duties:

As Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (PMH-APRN), the PMH-APRN will be based in the Counseling and Psychological Services at the Pat Walker Health Center serving a diverse population of students, faculty and staff of the University of Arkansas.

The PMH-APRN delivers general psychiatric care to University of Arkansas students in a university counseling center setting. General psychiatric care includes the following: all aspects clinical assessment and care, diagnosis, treatment planning, all aspects of medication management, and coordination of care. All aspects of clinical care includes but not limited to the following: patient education, monitoring efficacy and tolerability of medication response, monitoring standard of care labs, and making the appropriate referrals to psychology, psychological testing, and medical providers. The above job duties must be in accordance with evidence-based care utilizing the most up to date DSM diagnostic criteria and documentation must be completed utilizing the CAPS preferred electronic medical record (EMR).

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) PMH-APRN is a consultant for members of the Pat Walker Health Center. PMH-APRN provides consultations for members of primary medical clinic, women's clinic, CAPS clinicians, Wellness and Health Promotion, Eating Disorder Treatment Team, Substance Education and Alcohol Resources (SEARS) team.

The PMH-APRN will collaborate with a PWHC psychiatrist also working in the Counseling and Psychological Services and will follow all prescription protocols, privileging guidelines, and Arkansas State Board of Nursing rules.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least two years of clinical practice in an outpatient medical or mental health clinic

Required Certification and License:
  • Licensure from the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with active PMHNP board certification

Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience in a college health setting or with a college population

Salary Information:
Commensurate with education and experience
