In this job, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Mountainview Generating Station turbines and associated mechanical system assets. You will conduct equipment and facility inspections, acquire equipment and process data, and monitor equipment health. You will also help identify emergent issues and be responsible for managing small O&M projects and will act as the point of contact for all turbine engineering issues and will work with both internal and external engineers. You will be reporting to Engineering Manager of Plant Engineering Division, which is part of Asset Management and Generation Strategy department of the Generation Organization.

  • Support emergent equipment and process issues related to all Mountainview Generating Station assets, including gas turbines.
  • Ensure proper inspection of gas turbines and facilities as required by OEM recommendations, best industry practices, permit, regulation, or policy.
  • Utilize power generation, controls, and software expertise to perform system integration analysis for the gas turbines on site and their auxiliaries.
  • Coordinate with project teams on major projects and the Operations team for regular work.
  • Utilize engineering and knowledge of utility best practices for analyzing and evaluating operations and maintenance practices to continuously improve gas turbine performance.
  • Help the Utility make risk informed decisions pertaining to regular and capital investments.
  • Support preparation of capital and operating work plans for the annual and long-term planning horizons.
  • Lead the maintenance optimization effort for the Mountainview Power Plant.
  • Present findings and solutions to senior leadership team.
  • Support condition-based monitoring plans and actions.
  • Support the corrective action program and the associated evaluations.
  • Lead test execution and analysis of test data.
  • Utilize power generation, controls, and software expertise to work with other departments for optimizing plant operation.
  • Work with plant operation and maintenance leads in developing, allocating, validating, tracing, verifying, and documenting activities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

The essentials
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Five years of engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting turbine commissioning or operations.
  • Valid Driver's License.

The preferred
  • GE Field Engineering Program graduate: Mechanical and/or Controls.
  • 5 years of experience with GE 7FA-Technology gas turbine commissioning and operation.
  • Three years of Electric Utility engineering experience.
  • Master's in engineering.
  • Experience in requirements development, verification and validation of electrical equipment for power production (preferably on commercial applications).
  • P. E. License.
  • 8 or more years working in progressing responsible plant engineering positions.
  • Proven experience in preparing/justification of capital projects.
  • Experience with electrical power systems, power generation technical and certification requirements.
  • Experience with engineering tools for troubleshooting plant operation issues.
  • Ability to contribute in a team environment.
