SDI System Design Operational Support Engineer - LiftSystem

The LiftSystem Services team is seeking a System Design Operational Support (SDOS) Engineer to support LiftSystem Prognostic Health Management (PHM). System Design Operational Support is an engineeringcapability that supports the business operations by enabling to the capability to manage the health of the products using a system engineering approach, knowledge of operational definition, and the data integration process.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Lead developing new algorithms and maturing techniques to detect and predict imminent system level failures and remaining useful life such as in vibrations, oil systems, part lifing, performance, and control systems.
  • Performing system level analysis from the functional aspect, to understand the behavior of the products in service and resolving in-service issues includingRed Top Investigations and Safety Alert Reports.
  • Integrating and maturing in-service systems for LiftSystem functional data including in-service data reduction model, data portal systems, and database
  • Collaborating with Rolls-Royce Customer Training Services to develop and conduct supplemental training to maintenance activities through on the job training and classroom instruction
  • Collaborating with the LiftSystem IPT team and the SDOS engineering capability to use best practices and good knowledge management practices.
  • Interpreting and refining maintenance and repair instructions, damage acceptance and repair limits, as well as LiftSystem modification accomplishment instructions
  • Travelling on short notice both domestically and internationally in support of campaigns

Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science and 2+ year of experience, or
  • Masters Degree in Engineering or Science, or
  • JD/PhD
  • Must be U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident

Preferred Qualifications :
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • Experience with computational modelling, data analysis, JMP, SQL, Python, Visual Basic, and/or MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience in system engineering processes, and EHM/PHM methods
  • Familiarization with the functional data integration process on LiftSystem application and the PHM systems
  • Demonstrated ability, to execute engineering tasks/projects independently to satisfy overall objectives, and to provide technical guidance and mentoring
