Associate Director (Cardiovascular) Patient Assistance

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of cardiovascular patient assistance programs ensuring effective and efficient vendor operations, fulfillment and customer service
  • Identify and address gaps, trends and access issues specific to cardiovascular patients and patient assistance
  • Tracks progress against plans, collects metrics data, and proactively identifies operational risks/issues and solutions
  • Serve as a critical interface between the donor’s cardiovascular business unit and key matrix partners to appropriately identify key issues and effectively advocate for underserved patients
  • Manage new product and new indication launches into patient assistance programs
  • Review escalations, apply business rules and make determination within 24 business hours of receipt
  • Ability to engage with IT and data privacy teams on IT mapping and secure data feed development
  • Review, analyze and make determinations for appeals and refund/replacement requests; escalate and present extraordinary cases to management
  • Track program metrics and review against invoice for all cardiovascular related charges; escalate to management as appropriate
  • Develop and implement training to internal and external teams to ensure compliance with BMS Guiding Principles on Patient Assistance and program business rules

  • This role will not have any direct reports; however, the successful candidate will be able to manage cross-functional teams and work effectively in a highly matrixed organization

Key Competencies
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Advance Degree (MBA, MS, Pharm.D, JD) a plus
  • Knowledge of charitable patient assistance organizations, strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry, commercial, regulatory or patient access experience in cardiovascular space is desirable
  • Understanding of program and pharmacy operations for REMS products
  • In-depth understanding of access programs for the uninsured and underinsured patient populations and the applicable laws and regulations (including FDA, FCA, privacy and tax) and relevant policies
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills as well as exceptional organizational and project management skills are required
  • This role will not have any direct reports; however, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of managing multiple, conflicting priorities in a rapidly evolving, fast paced, complex environment with successful outcomes
