Network Engineer


Under supervision of the Director of Network
Services of DGIT, the Network Engineer serves on the network support team for the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) Network. In this role, you will design, implement, and support the
16.000-node SOM network, technology planning and documentation.
  • Experience designing, implementing and supporting local area networks and network infrastructure, including coordination
    of cabling, hardware and software, workstation and server configurations
  • Experience analyzing complex end-user
    business needs and developing cost effective technical solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in
    project management - ability to plan, develop, and implement short range and
    long range project plans
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating
    environment and Cisco IOS
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols as
    well as common application (e.g. telnet, email, ssh,snmp,dns,etc )
  • Proficient
    experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio)
  • Understanding of Ethernet network topology
    and network components
  • Strong
    software and hardware diagnostic skills to solve and/or prevent hardware and
    software problems quickly and effectively
  • Strong
    understanding of Cisco switching/routing and firewalls
  • Understanding of wireless
    technologies such as WLAN, FSO, RF, and others
