Hours are typically Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician. Administers prescribed medications as directed.
  • Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination. Screens patients for appropriate information. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Arranges for patient testing and admissions.
  • Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
  • Formulates and updates patient care plans. Orders, prepares, and inspects patients charts. Posts tests and examination results.
  • Responsible for complete documentation of services and results performed in the office and tests ordered outside of the office; properly sign the chart document and obtain co-signatories as required by each specific site. Responsible for acquiring written signed orders from physicians for services performed.
  • Take x-rays as needed. Support other staff during high volume periods as necessary in ensure quality patient care.
  • Give patient care instructions to patient as outlined by physician or primary care giver.
  • Maintain narcotic inventory and sage list (with physician authorization).
  • Triage of telephone calls for physician or care giver, including patient call backs regarding medical reports, laboratory results and medical instruction. Assess patient's condition and communicate with physician or care giver.
  • Take all pharmacy messages for prescription refills and process according to office procedures. Dispense samples as instructed. Place drug samples in proper place and maintain neat and up to date sample cupboards. Ensure safety and security for all medications.
  • Maintain recall (tickler) file system for patients as indicated by physician.
  • Assemble patient information packets. Monitor inventory of same. Order supplies when necessary. Perform patient education as requested.
  • Complete opening and closing procedures (site specific).
  • Perform the training of the new staff.
  • Maintain COR cart and COR training. Schedule mock CORS on a regular basis and maintain log for participants.
  • May supervise and train other staff in keeping the clinical portion of office environment clean and organized. Offers assistance to other staff when work flow allows.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Monitors and starts IVs.
  • Orders back-office supplies.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about patients and clients.
  • Handles infectious specimens, when necessary, with appropriate biohazard precautions.
  • Maintains safe working environment. Follows Safety Policies and OSHA Procedures.
  • Maintains CLIA Records, Trains Laboratory Personnel and assures Laboratory compliance and Quality Control.
  • Oversees the CLIA Proficiency testing.
  • Maintains OSHA Records, facilitate the training and compliance of OSHA guidelines.
  • Screens and refers pharmaceutical representatives.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing
  • Valid state license to practice practical nursing
  • CPR certification, Limited Scope and IV Therapy Certification
  • Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures
  • Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients
  • Knowledge of patient education principles to develop a self-care program
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Ability to administer a variety of treatments and medications as directed
  • Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures
  • Skill in taking vital signs
  • Skill in maintaining records and writing reports
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards
  • Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Strong communications skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent customer service and telephone skills
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Requires knowledge of safety protocols to minimize exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids
  • You will be provisioned with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are required to perform this role with patients and members on site, as this is an essential function of this role.
  • Employees are requiredto screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.
