Associate Director, Drug Product Strategic Innovation

Drug Product Strategic Innovation, within the Drug Product Development group, is responsible for integration of business insights, patient and customer needs, & product technology options to enable innovative patient-centric products. The team is focused on understanding end user/patient, business requirements and competitive landscape, designing executionable drug product design strategies, and supporting ongoing development projects with patient/end user research initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with internal teams within Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, and Product Development organization to build business case and define product strategy.
  • Work with internal Product Development teams to conduct technology landscape assessments.
  • Work closely with product development and device teams throughout the product development process to help define key attributes and design inputs relating to customers and patients.
  • Leverages STEM and clinical/patient/user/business/analytics input strategically translating into program-specific requirements.
  • Influence design of and leverage patient/user insights from clinical trials to gain early input toward commercial product presentations for initial launch and life cycle management.
  • Organize and facilitate discussions
  • Span of influence cross BMS organization
  • Support development of insight gathering attainment and internal storage and retrieval architecture model.
  • Support development of value analysis models for assessing new technologies and evaluating product design options
  • Facilitate advancement of new ideas and technologies through the innovation engine
  • Support development of communication and training strategy to ensure understanding and adoption of the new processes
  • Provides practical solutions to a wide range of challenging problems
  • Frequent cross-functional and external interactions. Represents BMS with finding solutions to challenging issues associated with specific projects
  • Maintain awareness of advances in technologies


Qualifications:
  • BS-MS degree in a biosciences or engineering (mechanical, biomedical, chemical) discipline and/or MBA with 12+ years of experience working in the early innovation and technology development space. Candidates with advanced degree and less years of experience will also be considered.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding in one of the following areas is preferred: (1) Drug delivery technologies, (2) drug product development, (3) customers, market and the competitive environment, or (4) data sciences and digital interfaces.
  • Passion for fostering innovation and working with an intra-preneurial mindset in a matrix environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work independently to develop approach and solutions
  • Experience working within a matrix organization, leading and influencing cross-functionally.
  • Willingness to explore ideas and be able to contribute to solve problems
  • Travel: 10-15%
