Buying Specialist

Job Description Summary

Recognized as a key member of the Materials organization, and acts as a first line of defense for the company with regards to planning, inventory optimization, and serves as a key contact to our suppliers. The buyer manages part procurement as well as part management and inventory for their parts. MRP planning skillset experience and other critical planning tools helpful for procurement.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma / GED with at least 2 years of experience in materials, planning, shipping, or manufacturing


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Place and follow-up on POs. Manage relationships with suppliers for PO execution. Manage problems and schedule changes. Update ERP.
  • Use SAP / SSSfor sourcing processes, including Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Receipts, AP Invoices and Payments.
  • Adhere to buyer standard work, including on-time purchasing, and Inventory Management
  • Work withMaterials Planner/Material Leaderto support productionreleases, material processes and systems, prepare and update production schedules and purchasing needs
  • Ensure operational alignment with production plan and KPIs.
  • Optimize inventory and process improvements by actively looking at days-on-hand inventory, and identifying ways to improve.
  • Works together with cross-functional teams - in materials & production
  • Work with Logistics teams / fed-ex / LTL for shipping domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Support facility with regards to procurement of office supplies / etcfor business.
  • Drive key initiatives to improve planning and buying.
  • Collaborate with team members and various functions to execute source changes and coordinate raw material purchasing
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined policy/parameters
