Medical Pipeline Strategy Lead - US Medical

About This Role

The Medical Pipeline Strategy Lead is part of US Medical, a strategic partner within Biogen, whose role is to interface with key stakeholders across multiple US and Global teams to help foster a One Biogen view of the evolving treatment landscapes for assets and therapeutic areas in development from a US Medical perspective. The Medical Pipeline Strategy Lead will report to US Head of Medical Pipeline and support development and execution of strategic priorities for the Medical Pipeline team, including understanding the current and future dynamics of diseases under consideration for assets in development, including epidemiology, existing therapeutic options, unmet needs, key stakeholders, and other trends in marketplace. This role will represent US Medical in global pipeline strategy discussions and help inform the strategic priorities of assets in development, ensuring strategy will address foreseen unmet needs in US healthcare environment. What You’ll Do

· Define the initial US perspective on patient flow, including key unmet needs, trigger points and attitudinal, behavioral, and emotional drivers throughout the patient journey from a medical perspective

· Perform landscape surveillance and influence competitive and market intelligence efforts through a deep understanding of relevant platform technologies, peer programs, and current and future market dynamics

· Integrate the identified HCP needs, drivers of treatment choice and potential multi-disciplinary patient care models and understand patient needs, drivers of treatment choice and potential patient architypes

· Build US evidence grids to assess potential gaps in evidence and ensure teams can easily see where expected data outcomes would support clear value demonstration and where more info may be needed in terms of unmet medical needs

· Identify/integrate US needs to inform the global evidence generation plan, focusing on key US medical objectives and payer requirements, informing what clinical studies, real world/outcomes research, etc. may be needed to fully support the product value proposition at time of US launch.

· Evaluate and provide input to the clinical and economic evidence need frameworks such as cost-effectiveness, budget impact models and burden of illness assessments needed to support the US payer value proposition and market access strategies for assets in development

· Serve as a Point of Contact for Business development/M&A teams to coordinate any required analyses or evaluations to provide US Medical perspectives on potential acquisition/partnerships

This role will work with a team based in Weston, MA and candidates may work remotely from any US location.


Required Skills

· Must have a bachelors degree or higher

· 3+ years of experience in new product planning, marketing or related consulting is required

· Strong business acumen and demonstrated project management and negotiation skills

· Strong strategic mindset, understanding of market needs, resource allocation, etc.

· Experience integrating primary and secondary data into synthesized information and insights

· Ability to analyze and project competitive compounds’ ability to affect a market and practice of medicine

· In depth knowledge of US healthcare systems including market access and reimbursement/payor systems

· Experience working with cross functional project teams in a global setting to guide product strategies

· Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills and solid experience in translating medical/clinical information into medical affairs strategies


· Experience in competitive intelligence, market research, brand planning, or strategic consulting

· Strong scientific background that can facilitate integration of gained insights into viable strategies

· Experience in forecasting and/or financial valuations of assets in development

· Product lifecycle management experience highly preferred.

· Working knowledge of the clinical development process and product life-cycle from early stage through product launch, maturity and loss of exclusivity.

Biogen’s US Alzheimer’s Franchise is looking to recruit proven and ambitious sales achievers with at least five years of experience in pharma, specialty, hospital, med device/capital equipment, and/or biotech sales.
In this field-based, specialty sales representative position you will be called upon to sell our products with key stakeholders in the Alzheimer’s Disease community: including Neurologists and allied health professionals.
