Summary of Job Duties:

Thie Associate Professor of Apparel Merchandising and Product Development - 12 month tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant tenure track or associate professor with tenure in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. The chosen candidate will be expected to lead an active research program in apparel industry issues such as digital and visual merchandising, sustainability in the apparel supply chain, or functional technology. Responsibilities for this position also include teaching undergraduate and graduate apparel courses, mentoring graduate and honors students, and academic advising.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate in apparel, merchandising, product development, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment
  • Training and experience in apparel research
  • Demonstrated interests and broad training in the apparel industry such as innovative digital or visual merchandising, sustainability, functional technology, or other related areas
  • Published research in peer-reviewed scholarly journals
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program
  • Evidence of multiple teaching delivery methods
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, including, but not limited to publications, conference presentations, and grant writing
  • Evidence of ability to conduct research activities independently and collaboratively
  • Experience in managing grants and grant budgets
  • Evidence of teaching, advising, or mentoring undergraduate, honors, and graduate students
  • History of interdisciplinary training or collaborations with peers and colleagues in the fashion industry and professional organizations
